The car is a 2013 Mini Clubman S. The wife absolutely LOVES this car. and I love it too. It's teeny, but takes so much stuff. like 90% of a costco trip. (I had to come to the rescue in my pickup.)
We bought the car with 35k miles on it, CPO mini manufacturer warranty until 2020 and 100k miles.
So far (1 week in)
service light came on indicating that it needs the front brakes looked at. (strange right, it's a CPO they should have done it already...
The strip that goes on the rub rail that is metal and says mini on it peeled up AT the dealer. They are replacing it today and looking at the brakes.
The car was owned by a smoker, this was part of the negotiations. Wife "steam" cleaned it with one of those rental jobs last weekend which got out a ton of the smell. She's been putting coffee in it and changing that out daily so now it's a coffee/smoke smell. It is much better and we have it in writing that they'll let us come back and get them to do the ozone treatment on it as often as we like. So time will tell on this.
[edit] yes my wife names her cars. Her E46 was MIJ. I think it's cute.
Another option is pans of charcoal for absorbing smell
I recently quit smoking and took care of the smoke smell in my Honda with the meguiar's scent bomb things.
Took 2 applications and some febreeze and its gone.

Step one: wait for a hot day. (Yeah I know, wrong time of year)
Step two: spray fabric surfaces liberally with Febreze.
Step three: close up car, let stew.
It worked on my '98 Cadillac that was inhabited by smokers for years...
I had read that sliced green apples (granny smith) will remove the odor of death...
So, update on the dealer.

I walked the car down and noticed a missing valve stem cap. mentioned it to the service advisor and thought he was ignoring me, after he made sure my wife was happy he walked off. As we were getting into the car he comes sprinting up. New valve stem cap in hand and puts it on himself.
Brakes were a service light by miles that had not been deactivated. (check brakes at 36k miles sort of thing.)
Ride through the mountains was a blast. We had a great time. Only two issues that we did not ask at the service.
1.) The sunroof clicks when in tilt over concrete expansion joints.
2.) The sunroof when closed has a LOT of wind noise. I had chalked it up to just being a mini quirk but My father test drove it today and iterated the same thing, a quick google shows that this might be related to item 1. So back to the dealer on next friday it will go.
I want one for myself now. Super worried it falls apart on me. But MAN was it fun to drive. Yeah it's not a rwd car, and it does not roar like our 2012 mustang gt did when going through the mtns, but it's so damn zippy and fun to drive in the mtns or town...
Update, went to the dealer again last friday, Brake light had come on again.
"Oh we do not know what is wrong!, so we are just going to replace the brakes entirely for you!"
I mean seriously? Are you guys on mushrooms? This is just not normal dealer experience is it?
They kept it an extra night due to wind noise from the sunroof to order parts. Gave the wife a loaner new clubman. she hates the new car, it's just not a mini to her. Too big. 2 days later she has a new sunroof casette, new seals all around and brand new brakes... Also the tech was apparently grabbing any person who could drive stick so he could find the clicking noise. Turned out to be a pebble in the sunroof track...
I'm also going to look at my own R55 on friday, this one has ~4x the miles and needs a HPFP, which is ~300 bucks. Going to try hit the guy low and see if he bites since he has had it up for sale for over a month now with little price movement.
