ah, thanks. i was looking for vertical hinges and not even paying attention to the horizontal. and the whole time i was thinking that it made no sense to worry about a vertical hinge since there would be no forces trying to open the hinge... as forrest gump once said, "i'm not a smart man."
I've gotten a few comments at home lately along the lines "I can tell you're working hard because nothing much is getting done inside the house". I sense some negative energy. I took a bit of a chill day yesterday and had lunch with my wife, and today I just finished up the last truss and then changed the oil in the truck and did a couple of loads of laundry and cleaned the aquarium. I'm very close to needing to mow the lawn, which is about a three hour job that I need to start fitting in once a week or so. I'm going to need to work on this whole time management thing.
Took the whole weekend off to race and got back to things on Monday. Did a bunch of small jobs and started getting the trusses up and stacked.
I have four more that need some nails put in to complete the pattern on the plates and then I can get everything done and get sheeting on the roof. Of course this morning I wake up to everything covered in ice and my pine trees shedding branches like it's their job. berkeley.
This morning, every truss in the air stacked nicely. Picked up some more wood at the store and I'm ready to get to work. Hopefully I can show you every truss in it's place by the end of the day.

This picture looks like something out of the walking dead. Great progress!
YOu rate of work is humbling. Well done.
That is awesome! I would keep that and make a "time capsule" that goes somewhere in the grosh when it is done.

One safety item that should be there for anyone ever doing roof sheets that I learned the hard way (but not the VERY hard way) to share, not just for you, but for any other reading.
If a sheet begins to drop, fall, or the wind catches it, let it go! NOW! Stop trying to hold on, it will absolutely take you with it. It can catch plenty of wind to pull you off the roof, but it won't slow your fall at all.

Been there, got the T shirt. Always a good reminder though. Gracias.
Oh my grosh, your grosh is coming right along! I have a preschooler who writes like that and it is an adventure to read and understand the meaning behind her writing. So much fun.
Awesome. I'd frame the sample of his work so you can explain why it says GROSH above the door.
Your son is obviously very proud of you. Heck, I am too, that's an amazing accomplishment for anyone to do by themselves. To pay homage, I changed the thread title.
(Let me know if you don't like this and I will change it back. I just thought it was too cool.)

Whoever fixed the title is a scholar and a gentleman/woman

That's rad. Thanks.
You're very welcome. Glad you like it.

I do have an engineering degree, but my ability to apply that knowledge is occasionally questionable.
Yes I'm back on page 7 but this line made me LOL
Man, it really looks like a real building. Isn't it neat that you can just make something like this? It didn't exist at all last year and now - pop - it does.

This is absolutely good advice. I saw a serious fall a few years ago where a worker took a piece of drywall and used it as an impromptu windsail. It's just wood. Let it go.
I like the story behind the new spelling. I do always like seeing the progress, but this time it was mostly to sanity-check myself. "It's the title; he can't edit it. Has it been that way and I've been reading it 'garage' the whole time?"
I was wondering how that could happen, Then I discovered it was mojo workin.
Thanks for the support guys. Not much is going to happen this weekend. I finished a row of blocking this morning and then cleaned up and swept before taking my wife to the movies. I need to take my son up to Dallas for a leadership camp on Sunday so I decided to make a weekend of it and spend the weekend at MSR Cresson and the NASA races.
I clicked into the thread to see what a Grosh was. Great story behind that.
