What's the difference between a Neon and a PT Cruiser besides the body? Is there a big weight difference or suspension difference that causes PTs to be a dime a dozen on CL and you NEVER see a Neon? Seems like one of yall mentioned PTs as a Challenge possibility because "it's basically a Neon"

Tight engine bays, weight are the big turn offs on thoes.

I think the rear suspension is a bit different. It's heavier and taller than a Neon. Driving position is weirder. Engine bay is cramped. Only use I see for a PT is a 2.4 donor for a Neon.

Rear suspension is different, not bad tho.

I just wondered if a PT turbo would make a cool chop top Challenge car.  Old school lead sled style, not convertible.

Maybe......

So, with fall coming and the challenge car about to do its mo.ent on stage, my thoughts are returning heavily to the acr.

Yes, i have post challenge tweaks to the miata.

Yes, im doing a couple customer cars.

Yes, the shop needs work.

Yes, i still have a family.

Yes, im stupid.

So, today, i made it an actual roller for the first time in this ownership. It has tires that hold air, suspension that supports the car, wheels pointed in generally the same direction.

The next thing is to pressure wash all i can get to under the carport.

After that, i guess cleaning it out and removing the interior is next. Get the mold, mildew, and rust halted. Then pull whats left of the engine.

I can rebuild the numbers matching engine, and install all my speed parts as time and money allow. That will take care of the biggest financial aspect (in terms of single expenditures).

Paint, body, and suspension refresh are going to be the biggest time commitment. Especially since i want this thing flawless on every surface.

So, thats kind of where were at. I need to either develop a body dolly that can roll on gravel that is high enough to get underneath the car to vlean and paint, create a mobile rotisserie that can go over gravel, or some alternate idea.

Having never gone to this extent before, it will be interesting.....

It is a neat little car even if I like to give you E36 M3 about it. Hope the customer cars get out of the way quickly so you can get back on it.

And the customer cars pay for the neon and other projects. ...

Just poured another cup of coffee at dallas house. Trucks and trailer warming up in the driveway.

An omelet sounds fantastic right now.

Parts donor I assume. or is this going to be a driver until the real ACR is complete?

I was thrown off by the automatic but then I see the PT cruiser clutch. I think that'll make a kick ass half budget car.

Just build the rotisserie. You'll be glad you did.

Dolly wheels from Harbor Freight will get you across the driveway. You have a lawn tractor, yes?

You don't even have to make it steer if you don't mind wrastlin'. Cars are light once the drivetrain/interior/glass is out.

$12.99 each. No flat, so you can weld around them.

Nice new Squirrel!, I mean car.

Actually, both. It'll be a half price challenge car and driver until the shell of my acr is ready for a drivetrain. Then this one gets parted out and the motor and trans go in mine.

Or, you can make your rotisserie have skids, and roll it around on 4" PVC for extra cheapness/redneckedness.

Just make sure to make it pretty wide since you'll be carrying the weight up high>
