Again, potato photo.... I learned I had put a grease smudge over the camera lens on the phone. ...... anywho you can almost see the exhaust sitting on the axle. This has the jack under the rear bumper holding it up 2 inches so this should be the final height. Gives me 5" on the rear to the bumpstop and 4.5" on the front.
Box of goodness. I make snick snick sounds and stuff.
Wait what is that thingamabob????some sorta gear change nonsense......KOOL!!!
In reply to 759NRNG :
yeah! 5 whole gears of usefulness instead of 3. So many options I may get lost.
Looks like the stock shackles should be here this week as well.
I love my tko. Soooo much better than the a833 it replaced. Doesn't seem to shuft as well as my miata though. But it probably doesnt matter as i havent had the car driveable in years.

Seriously, anything will be faster than the SM465. the 2-3 (my 1-2) shift happens when it damn well feels like it. lol
So much done today. Old trans out. New trans mocked up and currently sitting in the truck. Cab mounts done. Exhaust routing figured out. One step closer!
anyone need a trans for a rock crawler or a dump truck?
Or an anchor..........just kiddin'
You ain’t lying. How something so physically small could weigh so much blows my mind.
Today too the day off with the wife in fall break. So we did this:
Bed kits are $800-1000 and we’ll have less than $85 in this one.

I'm curious to know details
The original plan was to sand down the original boards and then stain and seal. Several had splits at the ends and one was curved in a way not conducive to reuse so while we were out yesterday morning we checked prices on the 1x6's. $30 later and we were headed home with new boards. I did have to ornder one new strip as the old bed kit used an odd sized board in the center and I ordered new hardware at the same time. We stained and sealed these yesterday afternoon. Typical new bed kits are 800-1000 for strips, wood and hardware. We're at $85.
ah, ok, so the metal hardware (other than screws?) is being reused with new wood? Got it, thanks
YEAH. They cleaned up nice. Like everything else on the truck, at one point someone tried to make it nice and they used polished stainless strips and hardware.
If the driveshaft gets done this week, it's concievable that the truck could be on all 4's with the trans done as well. CLutch and adapter will be here by thursday. The last strip and hardware for the bed will be here by Friday. All that's left currently is to enlarge the hole for the shifter, install clutch/bellhousing, drill 4 holes for the cross member and finish installing the front cab mounts. The wood on the bed can be installed in an afternoon easily.
One question, I think I know the answer.... Can I run mt Dakota Digital dash off the TKO speed-sensor?
I know this answer.... yes. I can use the Tremec installed sensor.

I want to do a TKO swap as well. Who are you going through to get the trans?
Is that bed pine wood? Seems like it would rot quickly, unless you mean to keep it out of the rain forever of course.
In reply to dculberson :
It is. stained and sealed top and bottom. It won't see winter again.
So this is a little out of order, but the trans is in. Permanently in. Well, until the engine rebuild next winter. New clutch, bellhousing adapter ring and new bolts, crossmember redrilled and moved and new rear poly mount. I have right at 3/4" of space all around the shifter in the floor. getting so darn close!
Bed is also done. The only thing left is to drill the mounting holes from the underside and reinstall. I'm down to installing the last cab mounts, putting in the driveshaft and remounting the bed. The exhaust was raised and booger welded for later.
