Sorry got side tracked.

Weather and lighting were not cooperating but this gets a pretty good idea. It's pretty damn sexy

I wish I'd taken today off to finish wiring

I know that feeling.

Did you find a solution or picture for the wiring at the taillights?

E36 M3.... I knew I forgot something.

This is the plugerommet ( I just made that term up for this application)

So the top two are taillight and turn/brake. Bottom single is backup lights.

That is actually a fairly standard GM light pigtail. If you still have what is left of the original as far as the Plastics go you can use a pair of uninsulated Packard 56 Terminals and rebuild it for the new harness

In reply to Dusterbd13:

That's the problem. There wasn't anything. All that was there spliced and hacked wires rubbing on the bare body. Literally there were 4 splices in about 18" on the drivers side. There were only 2 on the right side.

I'll take a look what I'm at the shop tomorrow night and see if I have any floating around. An application we can look for is also a 64 Chevelle front turn signal. There's others that I'm forgetting right now. You may also be able to get them new through American autowire.

I sent them a message a few minutes ago. Worst case is I buy 2 new lights from LMC with the connectors. I'd rather spend that $170 on something else....but whatever. Any help is appreciated

So AAW got back with me. They only come on lights. They said GM didn't release the molds for that end to them. I kinda want to find a black plastic cup that's close to the same diameter and run the wires through that.

Use a heater hose cap. Drill 2 holes, add termials and rtv?

After working one lap on Saturday, I had to go home and mow. 12 hours of being in 40mph winds and 50* temps took its toll on me. Went up Sunday morning and worked tech for our first points event then came back home with the intention to work on the truck. I was so exhausted I took a 90 minute nap, then went out and started working. Only to hit one snag after another. 20 minutes looking for ANY set of pliers. Then an hour looking for electrical tape. That was when I called it a day.

So, as we sit: Rear brakes are on and bled. Still no cables hooked up for ebrake. Rear lights not decisively done. Wife is pushing to just replace the light assemblies. Old engine harness is out. New harness is started. new sensors installed.

To get it on the road: replace front shocks, finish engine harness, finish interior harness, hook up lots of wires for gauge set and reinstall seat, find vacuum leak. Running out of physical energy at this point. I've been pushing hard to get this done by mother's day since mom hasn't had a ride in this yet (and dad got 3 days in it!). But it looks like I'm just not going to make it.

Saturday I got the engine side wired completely. Now it's down to getting the inside stuff done including wiring the gauges. Lots of wires, but not much stuff to plug in. Found the neighbor has an 80 he's pulling the drivetrain from and told me take whatever I want. AWESOME!

I did realize that since I'm making my own harness here I could extend the starter leads so when it dies I have room to drop it down to pull the wires. WINNING!

Ok so 95% is wired up. Still have the blower to get wired up. No biggie. The biggie is : no crank and the Dakota Digital gauges power up, cycle through startup and the. Flashes every second like a turn signal.

Crap. Getting closer. Time to go do adult things like mowing.

what a day yesterday. Let me start off with this:

So, it made it outside. The ignition problem was a nuetral safety switch loop on the harness that isn't used. Looped that and boom. Good to go. Then I started having problems with the dash. All worked unless I turned on the headlights then they died. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? started checking grounds and the ground in the harness was very weak. 5.6V weak. Ran a new ground for the box and viola. perfect. I'm still missing bulbs (2 1057A, 4 194's) so no idea if the turn signals work yet but I'm getting there. Dash is back on. Donor cluster cover looks awesome. wife was cleaning it up and it ended up with a coppery tone. She apologized, I think it looks awesome.

Once I got it started I found hte vacuum leak. PCV valve was cracked. Zip-tie and thatwas fixed. Now it's having a hard time with low idle. Slowly getting this fixed.

Interestingly the new gauges show oil pressure at 40psi at idle, 60 on throttle (old gauge showed 20 at idle, 30-ish above), temp shows right at 180. Only thing left is to calibrate the speedo. it'll be nice not having to use my iphone for speed and distance!
