Good luck finishing up, this is a great build thread.
Got all of the last of the battery connections finished. So that's done. Now it's just down to wiring up the ignition into the megasquirt and getting some relays in place and I can test stuff. Not gonna happen tonight, tweaked myself pretty damn good working on it this last weekend so i hurt like hell. But I did get the rest of the OLD harness out so i can run the new harness.
Girlfriend and family surprised me for my birthday and are taking me to dinner and going camping, so it doesn't sound like first start will be by my bday like i hoped. That's ok though, spending time with them is all good by me.
Let's aim for next week.
(edit) All my fancy VDO gauges and sensors finally showed up, along with my adafruit stuff for my car gauges. woot!

Getting close. Injectors done, relays almost all done, fuse box finished, TPS finished, half the sensors are finished. A friend came by today and helped. The coolant hoses are all buttoned up.
I need to finish:
At that point all that's left is putting the linkage back on the ITBs and hook up the shifter, or at least make sure the transmission is in neutral before i start it up.
And then i'll be good to start. I'm really close, so i'm taking my time to do it right so i am not tempted to cut corners. If all goes well and my time doesn't get murdered by some unexpected time vampire (like people just randomly showing up to see the car lately), I should be good tomorrow or wednesday. Either way I think this week is looking good if i keep at it after work.
Won't be a driving fire since i need to toss the interior back together and what not, but the rest will be all easy peasy. I think I'm going to go ahead and run my own separate harness for stuff. This wiring for the factory harness is going to make me basically replicate the entire relay box and all the crazy fuses. All that's really needed is going to be interior lighting, turn signals, the headlights, etc. I think i'll sleep at night better knowing that it'll be on a new harness anyway.
The only thing that'll be tricky is going to be the headlight motors. I'll have to dick with that but i'll figure it out.
found an amazing page that shows the fiat x19 motors and their wiring. going to test this out after the car fires up and wire up my own relays for this. looks super simple really.

So stupidly close.
All relays are finished. Fusebox all done. Entire megasquirt harness is wired up and ready. At this point all I need to do is run the starter wire, along with the "on" wire for the ignition and it'll be ready to test start.
Unfortunately, the terminal end I wanted to use for the battery positive is uhhh, somehow missing. By that I mean I placed it in a place I would not to forget, only to forget where that very safe place is.
I'll just buy another one tomorrow, whatever.
At this point, I have a few little things to finish up: the oil supply line needs to be extended around the starter, i need to plug the last few lines that go to the heater core (that is currently NOT connected). Need to connect the MSD which should be no problem.
So...
Need:
Lastly:
Took monday off for more time on car. So 3 day weekend for me. hoping to have it at least starting before end of this week. GO GO GO .
Pretend you have the cable end in hand and pretend to work on when you had it. Go put it where you think it will not get lost. Is the other one there?
I have purposely dropped parts after dropping an important part that I couldn't find.
50% of the time, it works every time.

Yogi! You're back!
Tomorrow, megasquirt testing, and all the other bits and testing the relays. For now, the ignition is go, the wiring is go and it turns over. First time in years this engine has started in the car.
Got a bunch done. Megasquirt is good. Sensors calibrated. Everything is set. Pump priming as it should.
Need to hook up the MSD (running out of room in the engine bay lol) and then add fluids and fire it up.
Had a long crappy day at work. I'm done for tonight. I'll post 24 hours in advance before first start and stream it live.
everything is tested and good to go
I took a 3 day weekend for this, so this is happening THIS WEEKEND. I got the return line fixed the way i want it as well.
checklist:
After that, I can try to start it. Should have most of that done tomorrow night. Saturday or Sunday may be first startup.
I have no experience with this, so excuse my noobishness. But, if MSD is in the trunk, would running the signal/spark thru that much wire induce interference or resistance that would berk with the ignition?
In reply to 4cylndrfury:
There's a front trunk, or "frunk" and there's a rear trunk behind the drivetrain.
The MSD box can go nearly anywhere, though the shorter the wiring, the better, since it is just controlling the coil(s) which is where the high voltage/amperage is stored and generated.
NASCAR and other race cars would mount them on their dashboards for easy access to the rev limiter "pills" and other adjustments and to keep them less warm than in the engine bay.

Yeah basically the trunk is actually pretty spacious and will work great. So I think I may just go ahead and mount the MSD box in there, run the wires outside of the trunk and mount the coil up near the firewall/trunk. It's a better reach, less things in the way.
The MSD box will then also be not nearly as exposed to heat. Lamborghini actually did a pretty good job insulating it as it's got insulation between the aluminum and the rest of the panels. So it's great.

Almost there guys. Almost there.
