I'm finishing up the build soon on the 944 and thinking a nice addition would be a shift light. I'd like to hear opinions on pros and cons.....manufacturers, ease of installation, sequential vs simple single light, etc. Thanks!

I just installed one of these in the Abomination to replace a broken tach.
Auto Meter 5343 Digital Black Pro-Shift Tube System
It was easy to install.
The LEDs are super bright, and adjustable.
The numbers will be fine for tuning, but you won't be able to see them while driving in anger. Since I didn't have time to read the tach either, that doesn't really matter to me. They would probably be fine on a street car.
I don't hate it, but I was a little disappointed pretty cheap feeling plastic. For the price I expected something a little more durable feeling. We'll see how it lasts.
Installed on the Abomination.

Thanks for that....I was looking at that one earlier online. Is it sequential at all....yellow warning? If it doesn't, Part of me is thinking just a simple SHIFT!!! Indicator is probably my speed anyway. To much info is usually lost on me in the heat of a race.

I like the look of your install and I like simple installations. Did you tie into the tach wiring or running off a coil lead? Or something else? It's in my shopping cart with summit. Finger on the trigger.
I've had the same little Raptor shift light in three different Miatas so far. It's at least ten years old, so I don't know if there's something better out there now, but I do love it.

Thanks Woody.....that is ironically the other unit I was looking at. Seems basic, simple and easy. Leaning this way now as I don't need the tach function on the autometer.

Sorry for the delay. I honestly don't know if it's sequential. I've set it at 6750 which is 750 below where the engine quits pulling. That also gives me a comfortable cushion to 8500, which is where eccentric shaft starts flexing enough to crash the rotors. It's just going to be a not so subtle reminder that even rotaries have a upper limit to what they will turn.
I'll run the first autocross with it next weekend. That will be it's first real test.

Easy to install too. Three wires, power, ground and tach signal.
