The shadows above the rear wheel show what you were talking about, "its not a top 25, just enough to hide....". That said it is still a very nice Challenge build.
I find most race cars in general to be "rough" up close. Most of the really nice race cars I have seen are not built in a few months but are a project that are a few years worth of work to produce.
How do you think this is going to handle the autocross part? With the weight that low in the rear it seems like it would rotate very easily if you were decelerating in a corner.

Bingo. It will be a heavily raced race car. Our goal is $2000 Challenge level prep for the body. And max effort on go!

It looks like you've only got a wastegate on one side of a twin scroll housing. How does that work out controlling boost? I'd think it would be weird having different back pressure on either side of the V.
In reply to buzzboy :
Very common on divided housing turbos. A lot of diesel trucks only pull off of the one bank. As for how it works, I would not recommend it if you want to control to 2 pounds of boost, but if you want to run 15-25, it will work great.

Yes. Many. We will transition over at the appropriate time.
Will you be doing these passes in front of the house with your mask on????

The tracks should be opening soon. They are shooting for Memorial Day weekend.
Did something kind of cool today.
Our intake did not come with fuel rails. So we improvised with some truck fuel rails. One of the things that I don't like about the factory fuel rails are their very small feed line size. We set about solving both of those issues today.
Factory fuel rail.
Dad noticed that the end caps were made of aluminum.
If you gently pry the end cap off, you find an end plug.
Drill a hole and peel the plug out with an Allen wrench, and you have
What's really cool about aluminum is you can machine it and you can weld it.
With a little better persuasion it goes right back in.
Peen the end over
Make a plug for the factory feed
and it's good for 100 PSI
No leaks
They're not the prettiest things ever but they should flow a lot of fuel and they didn't cost anything.

Wow, unreal.....I would not have even considered modifying the factory fuel rails
Super cool. And that little sequence is a perfect example showing how cars like this can be built for a $2k budget.

Amazing. Always an Ingenious solution.
Scraps to parts....just add labor.
Found out that the starter gear was not going to clear the transmission. I know. Probably something we should have figured out before we installed the engine and transmission in the car. Not a problem. We have the technology!
I know. We sacrificed a perfectly good endmill...
Nice tool to have for the next transmission we have to modify.
We had to do some hand massaging, but the starter is in and it works! Big step!
In reply to TheV8Kid :
That is straight up awesome. I have sacrificed end mills for various jobs but always powered them with the mill its self or the lathe, not a right angle drill!
Knock that hex off and it should still fit in the mill collet.
that's a clever solution to the starter clearance issue. we all use tools to modify parts. the greats use tools to make tools to make parts to modify tools to modify parts.

We hit a major milestone. We have a list. We're probably 2-1/2 or so weeks for noises.
