A friend has had this for at least 10 years, I have been coveting the car for that entire time.
This is a prepped race car with cage, suspension and more.
Loaded it up from the yard of a building being demolished today to save it from being crushed.
ClifFord saved the day
No engine, interior full of various car parts and two transmissions in the engine bay.
It needs some work but I love an RX3, in fact my first race car downunder was one of these with a 13B bridgeport in it.
So excellent! This should be good!
There is an AutoX prepped one that runs locally and always seem to be near the top of the pack.

How perfect, I just saw one of these in town the other day and it's the first one I've ever seen in person. Man these are cool cars - please keep us updated! Can't wait to see what you do with it!
I'm seriously jealous. I love early RX cars. What are your plans for a drivetrain?
Pondering that, fully built 12a, 13b bridge or 20b?
This car is pretty lightweight.
I will be sourcing parts if anybody has leads, and yes Greg email sent.

Sweet - looks like our RX3 project car. Very cool car man. Depending on what you plan to do with the car (street, track only, etc) I'm very curious what your plans on. 12A parts are hard to come by these days, so the 13B gets my vote. We actually dropped a fuel injected 13B from an '84 RX7 in ours and I'll tell you the added tq with the lightweight chassis is pretty awesome...
You can see ours at http://www.twitchyracing.com/category/grmrx3/
The details aren't up to date, but if you decide to do the efi swap, I can tell you the pinouts you'll need to make the swap super easy.

Side note, what parts are you looking for for?
I am seriously thinking about going VSR racing with it, it has been a race car for many, many years, maybe all it's life, that would mean 12a and I may need bumpers.
Hood is rough. I haven't checked out the rest yet.

Hmm - hood looks ok in that pic minus paint, but I assume its got rust issues? I have a complete good 12A rotating assembly and irons, but no housings (hard to come by these days). Also have two running 12As, one with 60k original mileage but has sat for a good while (was last running for a few seconds last year).
Have you had a chance to clean it out yet? I'm curious what the interior looks like on yours? What year is yours? 73 or 74?
This is going to be a cool build. Where are you located? I've thought about VSR with ours too... be cool to get two rx3s out there. I barely ever see another RX8 on track when I run, let alone another RX3 - that would be epic.

Sorry for so many posts but I get excited about RX3s. I just noticed the vinyl on your roof. We're actually putting a vinyl wrap on our roof and I was wondering if you had any better pics of the top and the rear/top. It looks like the lines for the vinyl on yours are almost the same as what I was thinking to do on ours but I'm not sure how it will meet the rear glass, etc...
I will post up pics soon, heading to the shop now, the RX3 is still on the trailer at this time.
I will need legal wheels as well, we need to seek out the class and regs to get these on track

Yea - we built ours for the GRM challenge so actual class rules were tossed out the window a while ago.
One wheels.. we have a few sets depending on what you end up needing. All our sets require longer wheel studs...
There is a lot more interior than I recalled, front end has adjustable dampers and camber plates. Rear has lowering blocks. The cage is just a roll bar.
I need to find those regulations

Let me know if you have any plans for HSR or SVRA at Mid Ohio. I'm going to try to bring my RX2 up this season and run a few events at my old tracks. The Glen is also a possibility.
Also, on the 12A housings, has anybody tried the Atkins shaved down 13B units? We may need to start a petition to allow them in various organizations.
This is awesome. Eagerly watching this thread.

Have been keeping an eye out for those shaved 13B housing results.. Haven't tried them myself yet but another rotard buddy of mine has a set he might use in his FC vert project, we'll see.
Also considering sending some scored housings off to Goopy for resurfacing..
Desperate times these days on some of the older stuff.
2 transmissions = Durocco style build :)
Looking forward to this build for sure.
Vinyl roof pics as requested
Unique drivetrain configuration
Parts and pieces
Not much rust beyond surface
Sexy little butt
Oh my yes, there is nothing wrong with a renesis build here at all!
Subbed for shear love of rotary's.

Those wheels are sweet! What size are they?
I love me some RX3.
