Photos from a mid-June autocross got posted. Tripod action
Outside bias ply is doing some work here
Well done at Okemo. I bet it doesn't feel like three years since you started down this path. Remember this sweet, innocent little car. Look now, she's all done growed up!
Well my rule for goodies for the MX-5 was that the RX7 had to be running successfully before anything gets purchased. That means I've been driving on winter tires all year... Lame.
$$$
New rims and tires. That'll do it. Need to roll the fenders a touch and then I can throw them on.
Got serious about my fueling situation:
Was in the process of installing when the dog limped in to my shop with a gash on her leg. No clue what she did. 5 hours in the emergency vet office and $600 later she's drugged out of her mind.
I'm chatting with him about running a CFD simulation on a cad model of my car. Super sweet.
Now I need to figure out how to make a cad model of my car.
What kind of speeds do you reach and for what duration on autocrosses and hillclimbs? If the last list of max speeds is any indication, wondering how much gain there is to be had.
REALLY cool vid...
Top speed at Okemo is 100ish with average speeds over 60.
I don't worry about autocross as that's not the real purpose of the car.
I actually found a 3d cad file of the car, but it needs to be modified to reflect my rear shenanigans
A little action from a successful weekend at the Okemo II hillclimb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVIWHLb4xRY
Holy crap, that is one long fast course. Looks like a bundle of laughs.
Do you need more Rear brake fluid?
Paging Aussiesmg. You need to put a bar/cage in Sabine and do that. I just can't imagine the fun that would be!
Cage requirements are based on breakout time. Go faster than the time twice and you need a cage, which also means fire suit, Hans yadda yadda.
Break out times: Ascutney 3:20 (short course), 4:20 (long course)
Burke 2:30
Okemo 2:43
Philo 1:20
You can race anything without a cage as long as you don't go under breakout twice - so put a stop watch in the car where you can see it and then sand bag a little.
We had a newish Porsche GT3 RS racing with us this weekend.
Next mountain is Ascutney in mid-Sept. It's my favorite hill and also what I consider my home hill.
Is the cage requirements scca, or a local thing? I know that there is a hillclimb around here, and I've always wanted to try, but assumed that I need a cage no matter what.
We're a group of 3 regional car clubs (none SCCA) operating under one ruleset as the New England Hillclimb Association.
You'll need to log in to post.
