Next time you want to bend pipe drive up it length wise. It's better at controlling the radius and you can swap ends and get the same bend. If you really need to get exact then if you drive about 15 minutes south to Sammamish you can use my pipe bender all you want. From the pic's I've seen it looks like your just up in Redmond.

I didn't get the bends in plane very well

My thinking was taking them to something like this, groove out some of the sipes.

Yeah something like that seem doable. I have never grooved anything though!

The other thing to remember is I am not as heavy as a big rig, I dont know if drive/steer differences will be as big. Im hoping to be around 13k total

I thought about grooving those tires too, but I just can't see them ever balancing out that well. For a mud truck, sure. Highway truck? Probably better to trade them in to Les Schwab or something and just get the drive tires on the front. Your front wheels are driven anyway, why not have drive tires?

What size are your front tires? Let the hive search for more options for you.

Thats a good point. I didn't think about balance.

Does les schwab really give you any credit back? These have like 2k miles on them, i think I have the paperwork too.

The current size is 225/70/19.5, id like to go 245/70 as I think thats about all I can fit onto the 6" wide wheels... 265 would be better but they call for a lot wider wheels.

Leaving town, means I need to wrap the bar up as the bolts it uses hold the bumper on....

A little crooked.... and I have to add some tabs to support the lights it looks like.

Finished up the kerosene tank mount

Out in the woods

Chill dog

Nice sunset

Chuckanut Dr is a bit tight in this thing

Propane fill goodies came in.

Completely wasted. Collapsed easily by hand and zero rebound.

Propane tank is in! My god that was not fun, its tight, like really really tight, cant lift the tank up, it has to be tilted and wiggled into place.... Apologize in advance for crappy pics, its tight. :D

The front side of the tank got through bolted through the floor, its under the fridge, which meant fridge had to come back out. Back side I couldn't do that as it would have been right inside the door. So I made some brackets, they go under the flange on the tank, pickup both bolts, and then bolt sideways through the floor member. Getting all that lined up with the tank in place was interesting.

Brackets with the lovely blue paint

And in place.

Remember it was tight? Its touching the spring hanger.....

A little sawzall action and more better. Hopefully that not enough to cause structural issues in the hanger.

Tucked up nicely, you cant even see it if your not looking. It will get a healthy coat of bed liner next.

Yeah on the Friday before we went up luckily! No I think it was me trying to keep at the speed limit.... It was challenging at some points. I did pull off once as I had someone behind me for awhile, otherwise it was pretty quiet.

I can't tell, is that behind or in front the of the tire? Any concerns about picking up road debris or a blowout impacting the tank?

Its ahead of the tire. Yes there are some concerns, but this is an ASME tank. That means thick walled which should help.

I talked to a guy on pirate4x4 who had had a blowout hit his tank. No issues. The valves/bungs are away from the tire which I thought would be the most vulnerable part.

I will give it a healthy coat of bed liner to keep the rock chips down.

This is too cool! I've been kicking around the idea of getting an old ambulance with a 7.3 for cheap and turning the back into kayak storage, maybe a dirtbike, and cots.

I hate to be a killjoy but I'd at least fab up some type of steel skid plate type barrier for the propane tank. I've had a few blowouts owning an rv, and some can be fine, and others look like god himself came down and bent steel, It's just not worth the risk. We just had a few folks die in an rv down here in a propane fire that was the result of an accident. Different I know, but worth the time to get some peace of mind. Other than that- awesome build!

No need to feel like a killjoy! I post to get opinions, I really am making it up as I go... I am looking at a skid, will help with keeping stuff from packing up on the front side from going over the top too.

Tell me about your blowouts, I've had two and it was just sidewalls both times.

While even cheap BBQ tanks are super overbuilt and this tank is heavier than that, something shielding it for additional fireball (that much LP will make a RV sized fireball no problem) insurance definitely wouldn't be a bad idea.

Yeah its 11.9 gallons, or 50lbs of propane. Dont want that size fireball period.

Nothing real exciting, but a little more progress. Made up the first battery cable, big thanks to Cascadian for letting me borrow his crimpers! They are sweet. Self adhesive shrink tube is awesome.

New cable let me install the shunt for the Victron battery meter. While I like the RJ45 connections for the meter, damn getting those heads fished through holes sucks!

Gotta install this end still... But it works!

I second a shield for that tank. Don't forget that when a drive tire blows out, the tread likes to come off in one large slab and try to take out everything around it before ejecting itself out onto the highway.
