On another forum, someone asked to see "before and after," so I did. Sharing with y'all here:
Awesomeness!!!
Grill supports got painted in semi-gloss polyurethane, and the grill got properly mounted with 3/16" aluminum rivets and rivet washers.
Bumper also got mounted with stainless carriage bolts I had blasted and shot in polyurethane back when I did the steering wheel.
Not shown, I have door seals installed. Working on wiper motor mounting.
Floor vents installed. Dome light and 3rd brake light wired. Heater motor wired. Wiper motor and pivots installed and working. Rear wires run through cab.
Installing the glass reminds me of how crappy the factory parts are, how crappy aftermarket parts are, how fragile paint is, how ham-fisted I am when assembling this truck, and how much less I'm caring about perfection as I complete every task. *sigh*
In reply to SkinnyG (Forum Supporter) :
Even a shop teacher is allowed a moment or two of hamfistedness. This truck is a beautifully integrated blend of so much low-key cool, and I want to thank you for sharing the process, the progress, and the setbacks along the way.
That is pretty. Nicely done!
Amd reassembley sucks. You see every chip and scratch you make, and then focus on that. Its a real joy killer.
But nobody else will ever see them....
Wonder why some are roped in and others are done this way? Much prefer the rope trick.
Thanks for taking the time to do the video.
