Going to pick up a Suburban in a few hours. Psyched. Watch this space for updates...
That's 2, maybe the ADD isn't quite beat.
I'm jealous. I've been keeping my eye out for one of those.
No pictures yet, got home after dark, and now it's snowing. On the Vernal Equinox, no less.
Happy to report, though, that the hour drive home was absolutely uneventful.
As for the ADD...I just sold a 122 wagon, and have this car on eBay now...and more planned.

He'd probably bring it to the police station in a baggie to get it identified.

350 gasser. 700R4 (well, technically a 4L60, but still hydraulically controlled) automatic and 4 wheel drive. It just rolled over 176,000 miles on the way home, but don't tell the engine or tranny- it starts and runs like it has 76,000. On the way home, Mrs VCH was following me in her Jimmy, and asked me, when we got home, if the speedometer worked in the 'Burban.
"Yeah, I know...I was going a little faster than I meant to. You can't really hear the engine"
Tuna, being the uber-helpful and awesome Chevy guy that he is, has been advising me on tranny mods for towing. After taking care of the normal maintenance stuff, the plan is to install a Transgo 700 SK Jr kit, a 0.500 Boost valve, and new Dex-Merc IV fluid and filter.
I also have a line on a set of stock wheels and good used tires in the stock size. There's 3 aluminum wheels and one steelie on it now, and bigger-than-stock 31" off-road tires. Since it'll be mostly used on-road, The stock 235/75R15 should be fine. It'll also lower the truck a good inch (important for Mrs. VCH, who is slight of stature), give a bit better gearing (better for the transmission and towing) and make the speedometer not read 3 mph too fast.
Also on the list of "Mrs VCH-pleasing upgrades" will be a set of running boards.

Yes, TunaDad. Thanks,
I think the wheels I'm looking at are Rallies. They have the chrome trim ring on them. Like this:
Picked up six (6!) Rally wheels from a guy in Pennsylvania with almost as many project cars as I have. Two of the wheels had tires that I'd consider good enough to use, the other 4 wheels had tires that were black, round, held air, and had tread, but...well... Still, $150 for all 6.
Today was spent flushing the cooling system (and changing the t-stat and lower radiator hose) doing an oil change, and replacing the air filter. Not huge progress, but I did also score a $500 BBQ grill for $70 on Craigslist and helped Mrs. VCH make pizza for dinner.
Some prior owner had installed a 160 degree 'stat, which I changed to a 180. Interestingly, there's no external transmission fluid cooler (just the in-radiator one), but there is a honking huge external oil cooler, and even a power steering fluid cooler, both of which appear stock. Go figure.

Meh, I was expecting a Grand Wagoneer, but box body Suburban ain't bad.

Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts.

Suburban's bigger. But I can add some wood grain on the side if it'll make you feel better.
