Anxious to see how they turn out!
First layer of fiberglass on the flare.
Seems that fiberglass doesn't like tight radiuses or defying gravity!
I'm surprised you are having trouble with that gradual of a radius, but then again I don't work with mat. I use 4oz and 6oz E-Glass and it'll wrap some pretty wild contours, including 90° turns.

The Lotus 23 is my inspiration for this. I've thought about doing the doors like the 23, but with the bars that I welded to the openings, it wouldn't make it any easier to get in.
Thought I'd show my steps...
1) Bent conduit to shape the lip.
2) Shaped the flare in masking tape.
3) Covered in fiberglass.
4) Pulled the flare off the tape, put it back with self tappers. Will glass in place after I do some clean up on the lip.
Small detail that's hard to see, but I moved the vents in the engine cover 2" back and 4" closer together to center them over the engine.
Just saw this, commenting so I can go back and read the whole thing through when I have a chance. Looks like a crazy project!
I've done quite a bit of work in the last week or so, but it doesn't look like it in photos, finished the structural work on the rear clamshell, trimmed it to lign up with the rear bulkhead, installed the Quick Latches and added locating pins in the fender lips.
Are you adhering the fiberglass directly to the metal or will you be pulling it and adding fasteners?
You know...I had my doubts about this one when it started. Not your capabilities, but rather the flavor....But not no more.

The side panels will be bolted to the Fiero skeleton, and the front and rear clamshells bolt to hinges at the ends and quick latches in the middle.

But I like it!!
I dunno, I think he'd approve of those hinges in particular :)

I've had my doubts too, but I like it so far! Starting to wonder if I could just leave it as is and call it "patina".
