Undecided because I don't know where I want to go with this thing so far. Got the car from Neon Pat if anyone who's into Neons, you know who I'm talking about...
1996 base model SOHC Neon. I got the car with Raceland coils and Fiero wheels and some kind of aftermarket dual outlet muffler......otherwise the car's mode of propulsion is painfully stock, down to the EGR and factory catalyst.
How I got the car.
These came with it.
I can hotten up a sohc easily, or you can drop in a 2.4 quite easily also, all depends on what you want out of the car.
I wanted initially to have this is a somewhat fun daily....cheap gas decent mileage. However as with all things and especially Neons....just can't leave it be.
I picked up a set of old Depo projectors from a Indy guy and a set of Moorespeed Performance mounts along with the TTI solid front mount.

Those wheels look phenomenal.
Grab a pcm, and it will really wake it up.

Absolutely. I had a '97 before that had a milled Magnum head with a Crane 14 and long tube header, Syked computer, Maddog shifter, Moorespeed mounts and a 2gn SOHC intake retrofit. It was OK.....I feel like for the money I spent on that, I could have had a pretty fast 2.4 swap or even DOHC car.

Trick for sohc is dohc pistons. Bumps compression up.
My last dohc pistoned dohc made 171whp
I picked up a purple Iceman last weekend, threw some new plugs in and got a NRG quick release for my Momo wheel so I can swap back and forth between the GTI and Neon. The car burns a bit of oil but I'm really surprised how quick a stock single cammer can be. This thing rolls out pretty good! Oh....forgot to mention...the car came with SRT4 seats. The completely rigid front mount makes the car hum and buzz and the super stiff suspension makes this thing a visceral experience to drive....so much fun!

That's some great numbers! I bought a DOHC head with the Iceman so I'm going to send it to have it cleaned...have new seals and springs installed and have the valves cut. I may try to find a 2.4 bottom end for it. I'd rather not do another SOHC build this time.
I've soaked a lot of money into a SOHC Neon before and felt disappointed. It's possible to make them quick, but it takes a lot more money and effort than a 2.4 and/or turbo setup. I do love the simplicity of a single cam, though. So easy to work on.
Wait you're on GRM now?
Also. YUNO post pics of plaid interior.

Yes and because I'm ashamed. Lol

Reminds me of my SOHC Hahn Racecraft Turbo Neon. Same year too! Fun car and great engine to tinker with!! Adjustable Cam gear will help some too. Have fun with it!!
