And thus begins another build thread for me.
But this one is a bit different in that it is only going to be a recap of what was done, and then when I feel like it, updates when components have failed, the replacement of said components.
Also there will be some other odd stuff that I have done, which will either be car related or not.
This is also more of a how to turn a car stereo into a garage stereo. Because, who does not like some tunes when they spend some alone time in the garage.
My previous music generating appuratus was this Shout Amplify Pro bluetooth speaker, but since it is our nice speaker that we use when camping, I did not want to damage it at all, so the following idea was hatched.
Now most of the items used was either hand me downs or old through away stuff that people did not want or need to use any more.
So this build is completly GRM...
The 3way speakers comes from a Panasonic radio set we had in the house. The CD player packed in, so it was just an ornament to make the TV cabinet more full.
The radio is a Targa bluetooth head unit that my brother in law threw out after he moved out of mother in law's house and cleaned out all his old E36 M3.
Same with the XTC Diablo 6X9's with the speakerboard. A friend threw it out since it was lying in the garage gathering dust.
Power units are three old 12V laptop chargers, measuring 4.1Amps each, giving a total of 12.3Amps power draw available to the radio.

The only items I bought was 3 rolls of speaker wire, measuring 10m per roll.
All the wood used for the 6X9 boxes and the base for the radio/power unit is old cast off stuff I had laying around.

Everything is removable since is RSA, the rental clauses in homes or flats state if something is bolted or nailed into the wall, it needs to stay when you move out.
Since I completed this over three weeks worth of working after hours or 1hr at a time on weekends, the next installment of, my next crazy batE36 M3 idea might be done just as winter has passed here and spring has sprung.....
Ok, so not quite that quick.... But I did get allot done on the next installment off, "a crazy South African does what?"
Firstly, a disclaimer: In South Africa it is completely legal to own, produce or buy a silencing device for any rifle, from any person thar knows what they are doing.
We don't have to register it as a separate weapon, since it falls under the sub clause that includes, magazines, slings, lazermarkers/sights and scopes, whereby it is regarded as an appendix to said firearm.
Now let's get on with it shall we.....
Actually that was the first disclaimer.
The second one is that this is not a silencer/surprising device, but more of a gas redirectional device.
Having got a Spyder Victor paintball marker from a colleague, I decided to build something to take the muzzle blast/signature and modify it to come out at another angle.
So let's start with the goodies, shall we....
First, get your ingredients together...
One silicone cartridge
One acrylic number plate
A length of 38mm pvc pipe
And one drill handle
Chop off the front end of the silicone cartridge
Now press out the silicone plunger(already visible in above photo)
Then with the appropriate size holesaw, cut out the plinger to fit pvc pipe
Next, cut of flanged end of the drill handle
Only to realize you are stuck with a nylon wall where you want a hole....
Now go rummage through your drillbit sets to find an appropriate flatblade drillbit....
Might work....
And she's holed out....
No photo taken on the day(sometime in July) , but everything lined up perfectly....
And as can be seen by the above photo, the tree in the front yard was still butt naked, and live and everyday E36 M3, and a new hobby of action cricket got in the way and only started the project up today again....
So, with the wife doing some arts and crafts making a gift for a friend's brother, I decide that it was a good time as any to continue the gas redirectional device.
Take your acrylic number plate and cut some rings. These will be your supports/chambers
Next, add your acrylic "washers" to a high precision alignment device, aka an 6mm bolt and nut.
Clamp into your high speed sanding divice
And sand until everything is a tight fit
Now clamp your acrylic "washers" to a block of wood and cut out centre to fit pvc pipe
And done...
Now align pvc pipe in cutting jig to make 90° cuts, and proceed to still have it off a few degrees...
Now since my "garage" is just a fenced carport, I do have a lot of critters and bugs....

So, align drill handle to the barrel, and pvc pipe to the handle and slide silicone cartridge over to see how everything will align.
Remove slides from marker and ensure there is no misalignment
Then using your favorite cynoacrylate super glue, fix the pvc and handle together
And add the activator to form a rock hard cement
Now start aligning your spacers
And marked
Visible above also the gas directioning grooves cut into each spacer
Next, fix acrylic rings to pvc pipe
Then berkeley up the "hole" product, because I was supposed cut grooves correspond with the muzzle's, but instead, I swiss cheesed the front.
What will happen now, as the ball leaves the marker's barrel, the CO2 will not escape, so it wi now travel with the ball down the pvc pipe, and get bounced around. All of this only occurred to me late in the evening, after everything was glued and sealed up. So I will need to find another silicone cartridge and fix my mistake.
But here is a photo of the assembled device. I will fix my mistake and paint it after some testing
Ok, did some testing today on a friends marker, and using CO2 and compressed air, the ball is not disturbed what so ever by my mistake, but there is actually some reduction in noise from the muzzle report, so that is a positive, so next part of the project will be to clean, sand and paint the redirectional device.
Also find out what is up with my marker doing ramp up firing, even with a full canister
So did some painting after testing.....
And after 2 weeks of drying, clear lacquered...
Funny thing is, my Huawei P40 Lite's camera picks it up as greenery and as a plant.
And a reel poser shot...
Now to dismantle the marker and give it a camo look. I have something in mind for the anodized aluminum, since it's almost impossible to sand and spray it.

I know nothing about paint ball stuff, but does your muzzle blast redirector reduce the ball's range or velocity?
If it doesn't, could there be a market for something like this in the paint ball world?

We tested with a friend's Spyder that is converted to compressed air, and there was now difference in accuracy and velocity, so I would say, it has some merrit
I might have to "borrow" some ideas from here doe my new shop.
Maybe If I can get it loud enough, I won't hear Birdlady yelling at me to come inside.
