The boss had a look when she got home and loves it. Case closed.
It is not a flashy colour but somehow it suits a Volvo from the seventies.
Coincidentally, a friend has a '71 1800E that was painted a dark Ford blue by the previous owner. He plans to eventually return the car to its original blueish silver, but it's not a bad color on the car.
Right now, I really love the new Maple Brown Metallic available on the new V90. Hopefully that will be the color my ES gets, combined with tan leather.

Please paint the engine Volvo red or something. Ford blue or black would just disappear in there.
But looking good.
Close, but to be techically correct, what I asked for was a Mercedes Blue. Going for this look:

Yeah... the Ford (exterior color) blue on my friend's car is a bit darker than that.

There's an engine hiding under your distributor cap.
Looks nice in there.
I hope you quadruple checked the torque converter engagement.....
In other words, done be me and break the aod.
Oh, and how are you planning to run pcv with that intake and valve cover combo?
You check for clearance to the underside of those stock HO valve covers with the stud mounted rockers, particularly in the baffled area under the oil filler tube? Something usually hits somewhere unless some grinding is done on the bottom of the covers.

Not running those valve covers for just those reasons.
Torque converter is in with three clicks and I made sure that it is loose in the bellhousing.
I have to say that I am not a fan of how Ford uses studs to mate the converter to the flywheel. GM does this much better and you can rotate the converter to line up with the holes in the flywheel rather than have to have the studs lined-up when the engine goes in. I was glad to have the Minion helping since he has done this many times.
I think what I am going to do, rather than futz with the Fitech right away, is toss a 650 Holley on that manifold and fire the thing up this week-end. That way if it has to come out for any reason, best to do it now before I assemble the entire front clip.
Really curious to hear the exhaust note.
Found a picture of a blue one
I think the studs are what caused our missed engagement. Im used to gm as well. Good luck!
Are you working anywhere, or is this your full time project until the bet is won?

Is the distributor going to clear the hood?

I think so, and it was a topic of conversation last night after I plunked it in....but if it does not, then there are plenty of options that are much lower. I like this one for the simplicity of not having to locate a coil somewhere in the engine compartment and run wires to and fro.
The Minion is putting this Roush ITB system together and it required an extremely short distributor to fit under the fuel rails. So there is a fallback for sure.
I would like to hang out with you and the Minion.

Maybe GRM's next road rally should be a run between nohome's lair in the north, and the Grosh in the south.

As long as your first name is not Peter. As it is,on most Sundays there are three Peters in the shop beating on the beer fridge and the Molvo. It gets confusing!
Got a pic yet with the valve covers you're going to use?

Front suspension is on along with a set of Bisteins that I bought off a forum member some time ago. As soon as I can figure out how to corner weigh the car, the Bilsteins will be replaced. Sad new is that the corner-weight scales that I planned to use just got sold so I have no way to do spring guessing game.
Brakes are fully plumbed with e-brake also installed. Should be bled out by end of this week-end. Need to slide out and buy some overpriced silicone fluid.
24 days to go
The R63 has moved under it's own power. Pete's C4 has driven around the block. You and the Jalpa are the cars we all have our eyes on.
It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood.
