I'm currently doing a huge project at work. I'm building a calorimeter, which is like a dyno for air conditioning and heating systems. It's the apparatus that determines the energy capacity for a system. IOW, it's what determines the BTU rating, and is also used for developmental purposes. This unit started life as a cooler/freezer. I converted it on a low budget to a calorimeter about 15 years ago, used it for about 2 years, and then the company got sold and moved. We didn't have the money to get it operational for many years, but now we are doing it. So I'm re-fitting it with all new equipment and controls, etc...
I wasn't intially planning on documenting every aspect of the project, but if you guys were interested, I could do that. One thing that's cool about it is that it can very accurately measure airflow. I used to flow intake systems on it, and it could even do cylinder head flowing if I set it up for it.
So what do you think? Anyone interested in something like this?
