Selling my 2004 Mitsubishi EVO 8, has 80k original miles, brand new 4500 shepards racing trans. New clutch, slotted rotors, new brakes, oil change, new HKS bov, new turbo headers, hard piping, front mount intercooler, carbon fiber hood, new tires, 1000cc injectors, aftermarket wheels with new tires, in dash tv, comes with extras, the car runs and drives, but it NEEDS tuned, will not go over 45mph, I've dumped alot of money and time into it but I've got no time for it now, I leave for the Marines in 2 months, cash takes it home. No trades. No bs offers, car books for 18k, tons of new parts just done messing with it.
Emails only.
Oh.My.God. Flip potential is huge for this one. If I had $5k layin' around I would gamble it, but unfortunately I don't.
What a tool. Drive 45mph over to a reputable tuner, or buy an e-tune and double your price.

Seriously? You are complaining that someone is going to get a fantastic deal on an Evo 8?
It's already gone, so that's irrelevant, but I was just commenting on the clown seller. Why would you get that close to a completely functional car and then just bag it?
My buddy from NC bought it.

So that's why he wouldn't respond to me....
My friend that bought it owns Miller Import Parts, which is basically a DSM junkyard near Charlotte, NC. The seller recognized his email address and actually responded to him.
Seller said he got over 100 emails in the short time the ad was posted.
Tell your friend i'll give him $5000 and a HELL of an MX6 GT "kit" for the car.

He's an old DSM buddy of mine. When I was telling him about the MX6 I bought he was trying to get me to buy another 1g DSM. I don't think he's a fan of MX6s. Why I don't know.
DArn why didn't I see this. I would have loved to get this, build it back to stock, and sell it to my friend that has been craving a stock one for his stable of cars. Keep the performance parts and spares for my Evo.
sigh oh well.

No aftermarket to speak of, no thriving forums, no clear "upgrade paths" that a million people have already done, and FWD.

Yet, we love them anyway.
Got some more info on the EVO. Car was "wrapped, Yo" in carbon fiber wrap, with pink Rota wheels. Will not make boost at all, and falls flat on its face. Apparently it has been royally screwed with and not in a good way. He's got a local EVO expert helping him out. These cars are so much like DSMs. Put back to mostly stock and they run great. Add a bunch of boy racer garbage with no real knowledge and they run like puke.
In reply to ScreaminE:
Yeah the best path forward is just go back to stock. Go as far as you can with the parts you have while also looking out for damaged parts. Find someone that will swap in their computer or spare computer to see if that was screwed. If it doesn't run great then, well then you have some work to do. But more than likely is should come alive.
Heck it could be that the engine is running so rough due to bad tuning that it is triggering the knock sensor. Racing Neons would sometimes have that issue with worn engine mounts triggering the knock sensor.
