I would bet that the difference was probably just the running changes of a small British manufacturer in the early 60s. It's not like they were using big expensive stamping dies to build steel bodies. This was still the early days of fiberglass.
This car is just so weird and ugly that I'd love to own it. It's fairly beautiful from the front, and I think that you would be welcome at any vintage event.
It's just such a shame that it has the bonded chassis and body. The ladder frame would probably be easy to duplicate.
It's certainly better looking than a Daimler SP250... but no hemi V8.
I reached out to the seller again. Sale is pending, but unfortunately, not to me.
At that price, I wouldn't expect it to last long. Like you said - it's just so weird that someone is going to fall in love with it. Hopefully the new owner will have the resources to restore it back to life. And this would something that I would try to keep fairly original due to it's uniqueness. Unfortunately, that someone is not me.
I keep track of Elvas for sale. I own E1104 which was stolen from behind my shop several years ago. Waiting for it to pop up one day.
