I purchased Harold Knobel's old D Modified autocross in 2021. It is pretty sweet. Since purchasing it, I had a second kid, my wife decided to get back into racing, and central Florida lost most of its autocross sites. We are back in something with 2 seats and this car has been sitting. It is time for it to go to someone who has time use it.
The car is in Sanford, FL on the north east end of the Orlando metro area.
Asking price: $5000. We can work something out if you don't want all 6 wheels.
I am not great at checking my GRM messages. If I don't respond, please send me an email at <my grm username>@gmail.com
The rough specs are:
- 1969 Fiat 600 with a mid mounted 2 liter honda engine
- The engine is a CRV block with an Integra head. It has high compression pistons and is tuned for E85. Engine management is Hondata.
- The rear is a DeDion axle and the front has long dual wishbones. Running gear is a mix of vw, mini, and triumph parts. So far, replacement parts have been pretty easy to find as long as I can figure out what they are.
- I have done a fairly significant brake overhaul including replacing the master cylinder, right rear caliper, and adding flexible brake lines. I also replaced a good chunk of the rubber and ball joints in the front suspension.
- The one piece of potential bad news is I haven't run the car in a few months. I live in an E85 desert and my usual spots were out of E85 on my last few trips to Daytona and to downtown Orlando. I was hoping to confirm everything still works before putting the ad up but I am not sure where to get fuel right now.
- The car competed at the minimum weight for the class when it was built. Today, the minimum is 1400lbs with driver and I am guessing it will need some ballast for a driver under 200 lbs.
- The car comes with 6 wheels. The four 13x10 wide wheels have extremely old Hoosier R25B tires. I bought two more 11" wide wheels for the rear of the car (see pics).
- On some of the pictures, the car is on narrow wheels. Those tires are a little taller than the Hoosier slicks and it makes it easier to get the car on and off my trailer. They do not come with the car. I removed the front fenders to fit these larger tires
- I have a wide Kirkey aluminum seat mounted in the car with sliders. The car also comes with a narrower seat. Take both or just one depending on your preferences.
- The car has a Florida title but was last registered in 1989
