This J code Torino Cobra Jet was converted to a drag car by a previous owner in Texas. It had been sitting for about 10 years when I bought it about 4 years ago. I did some work to get it to be a running and driving car:
Rebuilt carbs, new fuel lines, electric fuel pump, adjustable regulator and filters.
New Hooker ceramic coated headers with turbo mufflers and side exit exhaust
Replaced electric water pump with mechanical pump, new hoses and radiator and rewired dual fans.
Added accessory drive and single wire alternator
New master cylinder, front calipers, front hoses and rear cylinders.
Removed forward legs of roll cage and added Summit bucket seat and harness.
Rewired MSD, new coil, plugs, cap and rotor.
Wired up brake lights and turn signals to aftermarket turn signal stalk.
Added some used wheels and tires.
Here is some more info about the car:
The original 429 engine with shaker hood scoop is long gone - it has a 460 block and heads from the early 70's
C6 automatic with a high stall converter
Extremely beefy 9" rear with a spool and ladder bars
Some rust in sheetmetal and frame sections - I added some pics to show the worst areas underneath at the rear spring hangers and behind the front wheels
Was hit on the passenger side - bondo in rear quarter is cracking and passenger door is a replacement
Floor also has some damage and rusty spots
Angle iron subframe connectors and reinforced K member
Fiberglass bumpers
Fuel cell
I have a bunch of spare parts that go with the car if you want them:
Front fenders
Hood
Front and rear bumpers
front valance
Doors - for window crank parts
Rear window crank parts
14" Magnum wheels
Big and little Weld drag wheels
Spare fuel pumps
and lots of other stuff
It's a very cool ride - engine runs but needs some more work on the ignition system and probably needs to be gone through to replace the valve springs because it sat for so many years. Also desperately needs new shocks and could use new suspension bushings. Could be restored, returned to drags or just bomb around the streets... Asking $9900.
