Although a 4dr, I'm still shocked this hasn't sold.

That's because everyone in the market for one has driven one and realizes that despite the low price and apparently clean condition, you have to get out and push sometimes. I still remember driving with four of us in my friends rabbit diesel and him dropping into second gear on a BC highway. It's a slow car with a semi truck can pass you going uphill.

I had one. It did 0-60 in about an hour and a half.

In reply to accordionfolder :

I had an '81 2-door I bought with a bent rear axle.  It was very slow after i fixed it.

My brother found a new turbo kit the guy had bought but sold the car before he installed it.  That turbo changed everything. Car got 45-50 mpg and was at least as fast as a gas Rabbit.

I also found an aluminum tank that installed in the spare tire well that filled through the normal filler.  Gave the thing about 1000 mile range.  Got some odd looks when stations in Oregon (no self-serve) filled it....

With Tdi donors, if I recall a relatively easy and cheap swap. I was speaking to mk1 rabbit/golf that's solid and straight. But yeah these are slow as they are.
