I'm looking to move my MR2. I want to free up some $$$ for other projects. I'm not really driving the car and don't have time for it; so it needs to go to somebody who will and does.
The good:
67,000 indicated miles, re-painted once in the original metallic blue. Car is in very nice condition, seats are in pretty good shape. Car runs and drives well. Sunroof does not leak, has original sunshade included. Frunk has original plastic covers, spare tire cover, tools, jack. Just had the A/C charged; R134 conversion done. New Toyota valve cover gasket set installed with all new washers. Just changed oil with Toyota filter. New OEM style master cylinder installed and brakes flushed with DOT4. PO installed a new distributor so no oil leak that is common there. Newer cap, rotor, wires plugs. Have the full suspension rebuild kit from twosrus.com; new ball joints all 4 corners, front inner and outer tie rods, rack boots, Toyota rack bushing, full prothane bushing kit. New leather shift boot and I have new set of bronze shifter bushings too. All parts go with car but not installed. Also: Have Redline MTL to go in tranny just no time do put it in.
The bad:
Third gear syncro grinds. Driver's side headlight does not go up. Exhaust is solid but a little loud for my taste. Front ball joints and outer tie rods have blown out boots. Passenger side C-pillar trim is missing a small chunk. Radio sucks.
Asking $4250, not really interested in trades. Car is located in Orlando, FL 32792. Email: mblommel@hotmail.com
Thanks for looking!
Edit: car is sold.
Cliff's Notes version: 1985 MR2, has almost none of the most common issues, has a few minor things to address, great fun to drive, getting hard to find in this condition, handles like go-cart, always puts a smile on your face.
Damn that's nice. I've always wanted one....but it's just not in the budget right now.
Here's a few more pictures; interior and frunk area. Thanks for all the compliments guys. This is a good one, it just needs a home with an owner that has more time on their hands.
The worst part of the interior is the carpet. No holes, but it's worn for sure. The leather on the steering wheel was toast so I just carefully removed it and the standard rubber wheel underneath was in mint conditon. The shifter boot is in need of replacement but as I said in the previous post a new black leather one goes with the car.
The frunk is in very good shape. The paint under there is pretty good. It looks washed out in this picture, but that's because the light sucks today. No rust in the bottom of the spare well. Looks like the original spare tire too.
Thanks,
Mike
Also: threw together a photo of all the parts and pieces I've collected that go with the car.

'85 has the e-brake in the proper side, I heard they moved it to the passenger side either 86 or 87 for leg room (ugh, seriously?).
Looks incredible and someone's going to be happy, but around here that price gets you either a V6 swap or at least supercharged. Hopefully down there it's a bit more in line.

Oh, my... that's an exact copy of my first MR2, purchased back in '91 and owned for 6 years.
All the info in this ad is irrelevant, btw. To those who know MR2, you ca just write "AW11, no rust" and you'll have a line at your door. This one looks very, very clean in addition to having no rust. And, yes, '85s were the lightest and best handling of the bunch (rear sway bar, no understeer that plagued later AW11s). I've owned two '85s. And an '89 SC - '85s were more fun.
Bump. Had a few folks semi-interested but no takers. I'll add some more photos soon.
Bump. Still looking for a home for this one. Like all old Toyota's this thing in shockingly reliable. My Mazda3 was sitting at the dealership waiting for a starter for almost a week. In the meantime the MR2 was pressed into service as my DD with no drama.
Just for shiggles, what does a valve adjustment cost for these bad boys?

I can say from experience that one in this condition is a rare bird indeed. Very nice.
GLWS!
Bump. I'm open to offers.
Also, no longer have redline MTL to go with the car. I was re-organizing the garage and the bottle had a pin-hole in it. Over the course of 24 hours the entire floor on one side of the garage got covered.
Bump. Price drop to $3750.
Damn. I'll have the cash and be in Florida around the beginning of January. I doubt the car will still be available then.

It's been here for 3 months already. Can't hurt to talk to the seller.

It uses shim-over-bucket, so you have to take each shim out a specific order, measure it, and replace with the appropriately sized shim. It's irrelevant, because they never need adjusting in my experience.
Redline shockproof lightweight (the smurfy colored stuff) will likely 'fix' the 3rd gear syncro. If it isn't popping out of 5th, transmission is still good to go for a while. When you have to pull it for something, replace the C50 transmission with a later C52 (stronger and numerically higher final drive.)
Great car. Good luck with the sale.
(Somebody really needs to start reproducing c-pillar trim and eyebrows for these.)
If you were in Ohio, it would be in my garage and you would have cash in hand.
In reply to Fletch1:
About $400 will bring the car right to your front door.
It's still available. I'm focused on getting my X1/9 running right now so the MR2 has just been hanging out.
Holiday Bump! I'm flexible on price.....
New year bump. Looking to find a new home for MR two.
That is a beautiful, well sorted MK1 with a very desirable color. I wish, I wish, I wish :D

Was this car from Texas? It was for sale right outside my neighborhood and I ended up test driving it.
