I bought the $1,200 Miata last year and since then I haven't touched the bikes.  As much as I love riding this thing, it needs new tires and a steering head bearing and I'd rather just drive the NA!  So, the bikes have gotta go!  The craigslist ad text is below, but let's call it $1,800 for GRMers.  I'm in the Cincinnati, OH area (Erlanger, KY to be exact) and I might be able to help with delivery depending on where you're at.  Titles clean, in my name, and in my possession.

Here's your chance to stretch your legs a little bit and eat up some highway miles! This bike has great manners and is comfortable and fun to ride for long distances. I made several trips to Columbus and back for work on it and when I got back home nothing on me was numb or achy and I didn't really have any fatigue to speak of. Lately I just haven't had time to ride and frankly I could use the garage space.

A previous owner had decided that High-Vis Orange was a good motorcycle color and did a craptacular job of spraying orange paint all over the plastics. To complete the look, some black electrical tape was used as... uh, pinstriping? All told, it was pretty ugly and unfortunately, some of that ugliness persists in the form of some orange overspray on the engine. When I got it, many of the plastics were also cracked and missing some bits so I brought in a second bike - an '84 Aspencade -- to cannibalize for parts. Between the two bikes, I picked undamaged plastics, repaired some pieces that needed it and then covered the whole thing in 3M 1080 Gloss Blue Metallic vinyl wrap. Up close, there are some spots where the vinyl could use a little touch-up, but from 3 feet away, it looks quite stunning. I also put on fresh brakes in the rear and rebuilt the air suspension front and back. The electric fan is controlled by an aftermarket thermostat since the stock thermostat is a known weak point so if you get stuck in traffic, the bike won't overheat. The timing belt was replaced with a new Continental belt and new coolant hoses feed the radiator. I put in new speakers and a digital-media-only head unit with Bluetooth and a USB port and a remote control attached to the left handlebar. All of that work was done fewer than 10,000 miles ago.

This bike can be ridden almost year-round with the insulated grip covers that come with it. The fairing and tall windshield keep most of the cold air off of you and direct engine heat up towards you a bit. With the grip covers installed, there's a hard plastic windbreak in the front and then insulated sleeves that go up your arm a bit.

The backrest is removable and makes longer solo trips incredibly easy although it does have a slight tear in the vinyl. All the hardware on the luggage works, but there is some corrosion on the latches. To that end, I bought a full lock set off of eBay to replace all the locks and latches, I just never got around to putting them on; they will go with the bike of course! The battery has been kept on a Battery Tender and is good. The stator and the starter are both fully operational - those both tend to be expensive trouble spots for these bikes so having good ones will keep you a little bit ahead of the game!

In order to jump on this bike and take off for a ride to Alaska or wherever, you really only need to do three things: It could use an oil change, the tires hold air and have tread but are aged out, and the steering head bearing should be replaced. The head bearing just makes it a tiny bit less stable in a long sweeping turn and you can ride around it easily enough, but you'll enjoy the ride so much more if you were to replace it.

In addition to the lockset, I have a pickup truck load of other spare parts that are included - I've got an extra frame with a bad title, spare luggage, a rear wheel, the digital dash from an Aspencade, on-board air compressor for the suspension, a different style windshield, a front fairing, forks, and many other assorted parts.

Thanks!  I totally missed that thread, but I've checked in over there to see if he's still looking for a ride!
