Fun truck, these are up and coming in popularity. Not as much aftermarket support as other platforms but parts are cheap! Very capable off-road for it's time. Put some 31" AT or MT tires on it and kick some Jeep butt.
I bought it from the previous owner in North Carolina, who originally bought the truck in Alaska! He documented ALL services in a book with receipts, too many to list. I drove it back from NC without issue and just recently replaced the cylinder heads, as one had a casting flaw and leaked a small amount of coolant into the cylinder. The timing belt and water pump and all gaskets were replaced that were removed, base timing also set. I also ran a compression test and all came back at 180psi except cylinder 4 at 165psi, pretty good for 190k miles.
2nd owner (1st Owner from North Carolina), not winter driven
ALL service documented
Spare gaskets, parts included
4Hi Auto, 4Hi Lock, 4Lo Lock work
A/C and Sunroof works
Recent Service @190,000 miles:
Cylinder heads replaced with remanufactured heads
New cylinder head bolts
New timing belt, water pump
Gaskets replaced: head gasket, intake/exhaust manifold, valve cover
Coolant change
Oil Change 5w-30
Known Issues
Paint has chips but clear coat in good shape
Center Diff lock light does not work
Tires are due for replacement
Pioneer Radio head unit CD and AUX do not function
Have any use for my V8 Pathfinder, want to trade up. This could work as an interim vehicle while I look for a larger seven seater.
We actually have an '08 Xterra as our other vehicle, so pretty much a short wheelbase pathfinder! I think we're hanging onto that for awhile until trading up to something that rides better :)
That's exceptionally clean for something in that part of MI(my parents live in Clarkston). Good luck with the sale, that thing's a beaut.

I really should just have that for a spare, or for when my twin boys start driving in two years. I'll keep watching this but it will sell quick at that price.
The Pathfinder rides pretty nice.
It would be a great first car, comfy and slow enough for new driver, other than no airbags.
I'll think about the Pathfinder, I have thought about those and yours is very nice! I think the GF likes our Xterra too much to let it go just yet. If you're ever around Clarkston area let me know, would love to check it out.
I love this! A nicer version of the project 91 LWB Montero I bought from a couple of friends of mine who "know" you I believe. They do a Mitsubishi inspired podcast. I had a 2000 gen 2.5 for a while that I didn't care for so much, but I think it was mostly because it was highly modified, and I like cars on the stock side, or modified by myself so that I know how, and why it was done. I'd love to get something vintage like this as a daily driver, but sadly I think I've been ruined by my 06 Sienna, and how well it does everything(well aside from off road).
Oh yeah, auto off topic! I listen to every episode they put out, good stuff. I've sold a few parts to Andrew and helped him a bit with tuning ECMLink for his vr4. I've always been into DSMs but they got me into Monteros. We have a 1985 Gen1, love it. I'm very jealous of your Delica, must be a blast
It really rides nice and drives well, but you definitely notice the lack of power (the sienna is a race car in comparison) and creature comforts compared to new model cars. But they were built like tanks, all the switch gear feels like new, hardly any rattles and it's actually pretty comfortable. This would be fun for driving around town and hitting the trails.
We ended up going to an Xterra because even with modifications a gen 2 can't match the package the Xterra offers for the money. We looked at Gen3s but it's way too hard to find nice examples. The Xterra really feels like a newer Gen2 Montero, simple and tough.

This is PERFECT. Anyone have a good deal on a one way car rental?
I can pick you up at the Flint or Detroit airport!
Any concerns about it making an eight hour trip back to Maryland?
In reply to Tactical Penguin :
I drove it from NC to MI no problem, but that was 2 years ago. It does need new tires, I'll check the date code but they're over 10 years old, tread is ok. It does have a full size spare and drives straight, pretty comfy too, so it's really up to your comfort level.
Probably fine for one more trip, I wouldn't be trying to set the world on fire on my ride back anyway.
I drove my $400 montero Ls almost 5000 miles from Ohio to the west and back on the old, nearly bald tires it came with and had no issues, you should be fine. I'm just hoping someone buys this soon to remove the temptation.

Awewwwwwww, yeeeeeeesssssssss!
I hope to be working on/wheeling this beast with you come spring.
I'll echo what others have said: This is really clean for a Northern car.
It's about as northern as they get; the original and previous owner bought it new in Alaska then brought it to NC!
Ah yes, Alaska is north but they don't use salt, it's too cold. Glad to see this may be getting snapped up as I was in the oh E36 M3 it's close camp.
Unfortunately I'm out on this one for the time being, unless someone wants to buy my '08 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Would need the funds from that for this purchase...
I want this, but can't really get up there until the end of the month at the earliest or more likely January depending on getting a flight and talking someone into giving me a ride to the airport.
I've got a pending sale Friday, but not holding it for them. Wish it could go to a GRMer but cash is cash!
