Yes, this one. And yes, it's mine. Reason for sale - got bad knee, can't get comfortable in the thing and need something a bit bigger.
The highlights:
- 95 Montego Blue Miata, 136k, ABS, originally came with leather and the other option packages so it also has the Torsen diff. Matte black early OEM hardtop (no headliner or defrost). Clean NV title in my name, clean Carfax but the PO managed to stick it into the scenery and decided to replace the front fenders and hood as a result. The bumper cover doesn't have all the tab left and the airguide underneath is slightly damaged. Car comes with a good used air guide. I checked it over very carefully, the damage must have been cosmetic only as the car itself is straight. Car is a Southwestern car originally from SoCal, then up here in Northern NV. It hasn't even heard of rust.
- Blackbird Fabworx GT3 bolt in roll bar with harness bar, currently fitted with Schroth FIA legal harnesses
- Flyin Miata VMaxx classic coilovers with NB tophat conversion and FM sway bars, FM frame rails. Also comes with the FM butterfly brace, but that's not currently fitted.
- Currently fitted with "Canadian" (replica) Bride VIOS seats (not FIA legal) on genuine Bride sliders; Garage Star side mount for the driver's side seat comes with the car. I have the original seats also, but the rollbar and the OEM seat belts don't play nicely together so you need harnesses.
- Maxim Works header, FM high-flow cat and 2.5" FM exhaust, currently has an ARC intake and airbox fitted but I still have the OEM airbox and crossover tube also. I also have the OEM cat, header, EGR tube and exhaust for it. Fitted with NB injectors that were cleaned by Marren around 1000 miles ago. Also comes with the original NA injectors that probably need a clean.
- FM (anybody spotting a trend here) stainless braided brake hoses, ATE blue fluid and Hawk HP+ pads. It'll probably want new disks soon
- Two sets of wheels, OEM 14" with Michelin all season in good shape and Rota Grid 15x7 with Federal SS595 RS-R track(ish) tires. Of course it also comes with the correct hub centric rings and lug nuts for the Rotas
- Currently has a Momo Prototipo fitted with a Daikei boss and Daikei 40mm spacer, but also comes with the original steering wheel and air bag.
- Interior is mostly stock apart from a double DIN radio & gauge mounting cage. Fitted with a digital media receiver (ie, it doesn't play CDs).
- Previous owner put a tan Robbins top on - top is in good shape, the window has some slight surface scratches mainly from the harness bar
- FM CF headlamp lid with NACA duct
- Garage Star front and rear towing eyes
- FM stainless clutch hose included, not fitted
I've probably forgotten a bunch of stuff. The car was very recently dynod at 110 whp (altitude corrected) at a local race shop. It looks like it doesn't like the ARC intake too much at lower revs (it runs OK, but with the occasional hesitation when then engine isn't fully warmed up) but refitting the original intake most likely will take care of that.
I also have a Jackson Racing M45 supercharger kit for it with everything but the belt tensioner - $1000 with the car, $1250 if you want to buy it without the car.
GRM price with the stock airbag steering wheel $5k, $5250 if you want the Momo wheel with boss also. That's more or less what the parts have cost me so you get the car thrown in for free.
Car is in Carson City, NV, I'm happy to pick up a buyer from Reno airport or work with your shipper.
If I had any inclination to own another miata, I'd be buying a ticket right meow.
(and I'd be thinking about the M45 if I didn't have a manifold and turbo in my garage)
GLWS!
Thank you!
Any chance you might develop said inclination?
Forgot to mention, I might consider doing a trade with cash either way for any of the following cars:
- FC RX7
- e30 325is manual
- e36 318ti
- e36 M3, no, not the swear word
- SW20 MR2
- AE86, GTS only
- RX8
Now with pitchers!
These were taken this afternoon. The car does not come with the driver's Recaro seat that's showing in the photos, I'll fit a matching replica Bride instead.
Bump?
This one is too nice to be turned into an Exocet, otherwise I'd be ordering an Exocet kit...

If I thought I could offload my 110,000-mile '96 (same color, similar mods) for anything north of $3500, I would give you $4500 without the Momo and move my blower and some other goodies from the Manic Miata onto your car and never have to deal with OBD-II compliance again.
Anybody interested in my 1996 car? East coast, not rusty or bent, similar setup to Tim's.
Dang, wish I knew you had this when you were considering my RX8! It's on the upper end of what I wanted to pay, but very tempting!
Well, it is still for sale, so you could just buy it off me .
More seriously, we would have had a massive logistics problem - I basically couldn't drive anywhere close to where you are as I have trouble driving it for longer than 20-30 minutes as is .
So it looks like you got the exhaust manifold to fit? Is your issue driving it due to your height (I don't have that problem )
One way tickets are cheaper than expected! Any flex in the price? I'm looking at a few this weekend too. I should probably drive a Miata before I commit to buying one...
Re the manifold - a local race shop reworked the FM hi-flow cat to fit in between the Maxim Works and the FM exhaust. They did a beautifully TIG welded job, too. So it sounds good and has a bit more power now.
There is some/a little give in price, but keep in mind I'm basically selling it for the costs of the parts that are on the car and you get the car for free. I can be more flexible if we take a few of them off .
My issue with driving the car is that I somehow managed to injure my right knee a little while back and it's not getting much better. In fact it's bad enough that I've been referred to an orthopedic surgeon out here...
Anyway, I don't get enough support under my right knee as I can't get the seat back far enough unless I tilt the seat massively and go all gangsta lean (and then have trouble getting my legs out from under the steering wheel). So basically, I need something that allows me to put the seat back about 1-2" further so my leg is properly supported.
Sorry, long story.
TL;DR - legs are too long and I don't want to saw them off.
I've had a few requests for more pictures including the interior, so I tried to snap some more before the next winter storm would hit. Sorry for the quality, I was in a bit of a hurry.
First, the hardtop does need some TLC or a repaint:
Then we have a few interior shots of the car, now fitted with the matching Bride seats:
With the soft top up:
No cracks in the windows or the like:
Pretty much perfect fit on the front of the roof - most of the roofs I had on Miatas weren't installed that well and that gives you a ton more wind noise. This one is as quiet as the OEM one.
Harnesses are good for track competition use until 2018 - I also have the anti sub straps to go with the harness, but they're not installed atm.
Original Bride sliders for both seats:
FM 2.5" exhaust:
I forgot to mention that I also "backdated" to a real oil pressure gauge:
So much want...if this is still, by some miracle, still around come fall, I will be in contact. GLWS
Well, I'll keep you in mind, however I hope that it sells before then as I can forget about this year's track season if it doesn't as I'm running out of storage space and also need the funds for another, somewhat bigger car.
Do want. If this is around in the summer, I'll have to do some hard thinking. $5k is a lot of money for a college kid.
And I have a 318ti that you may desire.
Well unfortunately I think the time has come to pass this car on to another GRMer. This has been one of the most reliable and fun cars I have owned, but I am going to have to drive kids to school soon and they can't fit in the Miata.
The car is pretty much as described above, but with 150K miles on it now, and back to the stock seats and air-intake. It also has the FM butterfly brace installed and a FM hitch. I also have installed an NB Nardi steering wheel with the airbag hooked up, but since I can't confirm that the later airbag will function correctly will come with the stock wheel installed and the NB wheel and airbag adapter included.
All I have had to do to the car is change the oil and drive it. Since I got it the clear coat on the tail-light filler panel has started to peel some. All other panels look good. I will get some new pictures up soon.
Trade for a 98 2 door 5spd 4x4 4.0 Cherokee?
Good to hear it's been reliable for you and GLWS.
Oddly enough I'm about to decamp to the DMV today to register the new Miata (well, MX-5, but who's counting?).
Wow. That's a great deal.
In reply to Swank Force One:
While that does sound appealing I probably should downsize the fleet.
Think of all the places you could carry the kids!
Do it do it do it! Let me be that moron with three Miatas!
