With great sadness, I've come to the realization that I won't be able to get this back on the road. Pic before it was relegated to garage queen:
Its been in the family since 2006/40k. Currently has about 195k. Located in Medina, OH, and I do have clean OH titles in my name.
The balance chain failed, causing the oil light to intermittently flicker on the 1/2 mile ride home. I pulled the oil pan and believe the light was caused by a piece of chain partially dislodging the oil pipe inside the pan. I think one would be safe in dropping the engine, installing the new chain sets, and motoring on down the road. However, I do have a contingency plan...
Body is in very good condition under the barn find dust. The doglegs have previously been repaired, I think the left side has a bubble starting again. Gray leather interior with sport seats also in great shape, and the windows are tinted 50%front/20% rear. I dropped the subframe 20k before this happened, so it has new subframe bushings, control arms, and balljoints, new motor mounts apart from the trans mount, which I have sitting in a box.
I started disassembling things to drop the engine, but due to life, didnt get very far. Now I'm at a point where back issues are limiting what I can do.
In addition to the car, I have a new timing set and balance chain set, full set of gaskets, as well as a complete disassembled short block, two heads (one torn down), so one could either mess with the original engine, or build up a new one.
Other parts and stuff:
-Set of 16 Blizzak 90s with decent tread left
-Set of 17" klingon wheels in need of repainting
-Chinese clone Tech2
-a couple sets of driveshafts to reboot
-extra non-aero nose, extra set of headlights.
-Spare DI cassette, plugs, filters, ATF
-Other random stuff in the basement or garage that I can't remember offhand
In addition, my '01 Aero sedan will make a decent parts car and/or 5spd conversion donor. Its sitting at 251k, has been driving 150mi/week until last week. It has enough rust and other random issues i wouldnt recommend driving it much. It seems to have developed adjustable toe in the left rear, but I couldn't identify anything loose. Other issues: rust, cracked windshield, oil & coolant leaks, left marker light held on with packing tape, no e-brake. It does have a new battery, new good DI, 17" wheels with cheap ebay tires that have about 15k on them, a decent set of sport seats from an '03, and a Boss android auto/car play stereo with steering wheel controls.
My plan would be to pull wheels, battery, DI, stereo and anything else usable off the sedan and drop them on the wagon.
I was thinking 1200 for the wagon, Tech2, and spares, 500 to throw in the sedan as well, but my overriding concern is to see it get back on the road, so if interested, shoot me an offer. I'm having issues getting more pics to load off my phone on the forum software, but can send more via email.
