Saw this on my fun car auction search. Auction open to public which means you have to register to be able to bid.
I threw in a super low ball bid and already got outbid, but that will allow me to see what it sells for.
That's going to go for like $15k?

Looks like mostly cosmetic damage but for that high of a repair estimate I wonder if there's some hidden structural damage. Hope it sells for a reasonable (high) price so I'm not tempted to attempt to hack it back together and rallycross it. Googling the VIN turns up a sale listing from switchcars that claims it was well cared for and dealer maintained at least until whenever they had it. Interior looks really nice and the exterior that isn't crashed also looks like it's really nice so I'd tend to believe that.
Caymans around that year only go for $15k-$20k in good condition, even with less than 100k miles, so that one should be MUCH cheaper.
Someone needs to do a ute conversion with the bed in the front.

The auction states primary damage as front but secondary damage as rear. When I super zoom the 360 video all I see on the rear is maybe some scuffing to the L side bumper-ette, maybe. However, the spoiler is stuck up. Is that susposed to be? Could this be what they are considering as damage? The rear muffler outlet looks correct so there is no mis-alignment to panels back there.
At the price point of more that $5k, the playing field of IAA Dealer and IAA Public buyer becomes really un-level. It will cost a public buyer about 20% more that the dealer buyer. For $1k that 20% is $200 (palatable) but at $10k that 20% becomes $2k.
Not all states allow public buyer and in those cases you need a broker for sure. It is my feeling in the states where they do allow public buyers then IAA just makes themselves the broker keeping those extra profits for themselves.

I'd guess it ends up at $10k, or at least something that's effectively that much after all the fees. These cars are in a weird place where the value as a car is fairly low, but the parts value is pretty high. Especially one with a relatively low mile, well cared for drivetrain and seemingly immaculate interior (aside from the airbags of course).
In reply to John Welsh (Moderate Supporter) :
There is a switch on the center console that raises the rear spoiler and locks it in the up position.
In reply to dps214 :
I suspect in the $3k range and a Porsche specialty dismantler will be the purchaser.
Now over 4k not including fees

How much is an engine? A lot no?
This car is now for sale in FL for $16k. Cayman
