Up for grabs is a one-owner, cosmetically challenged scion XD. Great for a kid, commuter, or winter duty. Gets amazing mileage, even at 8200ft going uphill.

I'll leave the details for the cl ad the gf (owner) put up. I had previously listed this with a bunch of issues which have since been fixed.

Basics:

Colorado car. Rock chips galore. Front end looks lightly sandblasted. Clearcoat is peeling like a 3 day old sunburn. Front bumper is firmly attached but has one wonky corner that never stays snapped fully, sticking out a couple mm. Fwd, does very well in the mountain snow on 215/55r16 blizzaks, good on the roads on the indy wide ovals, but both are very worn now. Rear hatch struts are getting slow, but hold fine.

All maint kept up with. New fluids, brakes, lca's, bushings, coils, injector seals, alt, etc. Car drives well, no codes or lights. I would not hesitate to lend it to someone I cared about to drive cross country.

Tons of spare parts: starter, thermostat, pass cv axle, front and rear wheel bearings, water pump... Pontiac Vibe alloys with bald winter tires also included for winter duty.

Engine is the 2zr-fe, yes the same one (almost) as the lotus elise, minus the supercharger. Revs high, VVTI (vtak yo!), has good sound. Love this motor.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_ZR_engine#2ZR-FE

Possible gotchas: Original clutch and timing chain. Clutch is good, driver was not new to manuals, and shifted easy. Timing chain was spec'd as 'lifetime' by toyota. You decide. Occasionally when cold, 3rd syncro grinds unless double clutched. Never happens when warm, or after 5 min of driving. I used redline MTL, it maybenefit from a lighter lube.

Interior is 8/10. No rips, tears. Wear on drivers floor from running without floormats, but they are now located and installed, hiding it. Some light wear in hatch area from carrying stuff. Plastic is all good, everything works.

Rice: nice short ram intake gives some induction noise and strut bar makes changing the battery harder. Original airbox assembly and hardware included.

Asking 3500, but very flexible. Got 2 cars to replace it.  Can meet anywhere in the greater denver area, or work with anyone further out.

Any help selling, is welcome. Just want a fair value and my parking spot back.

Open to (partial) trades, looking for: NA Miata, 22r engine(or other swap for pickup), ND parts, 5x114.3 wheels with good (snow?) tires, and cold hard cash is always king.

Thanks for reading all that. Now make me an offer if youre still here.

Thought I had a buyer last night, but they fell through. The many joys of living an hour from the city. Bump and open to any offers on this fine, clean, commuter appliance.

Toyota's version of Vtec is "Lift" and is denoted with an L as in VVTL-i

If i am wrong i apologize, but i just sold a Matrix XRS with a 2zz

In reply to Justjim75 :

I actually had to look this up, and you are correct. No variable valve lift. It does, however have valvematic and dual-vvt-i, which translated from toyota speak is computer controlled variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust cams. You do feel it 'kick in' around 5100k for sure.

From what I can gather, the 2zr is a more economy minded engine than the 2zz, but a generation more advanced in the cam control. Its nonetheless my favorite aspect of the car apart from (contributing to?) its practicality.

Still available. Might get washed later. Steep grm discount applies.

In reply to Nugi :

I hesitate to offer correction in a for sale thread because i know first hand how it feels to have someone come in a make negative comments that may run off potential buyers, but i feel like the GRM community is one that would rather accurately represent their items for sale and did not think you were trying to mislead anyone.  If you were closer i would snag this up for my soon to be driving age son, good luck with the sale and let me know if you decide to come to Alabama in it.

In reply to Justjim75 :

I don't think correction would hurts my sale any. Grassroots folk like the details and I like all the details being up front, good or bad.

All my info about the 2zr was gleaned from the wikipedia article, so inaccuracies are likely. Again, any discussion at all makes the car more visible, no complaints.

Happy labor day everyone!

Still available, cl ad is down for a few days. Pics soon.

Price drop (officially) to $3,200. GRM discount still applies.

Just cleaned it again, rain-x'd windshield (cuts down on glare) and wiped down interior. Found a box with the original front calipers, alternator, and a few other bits that might be useful to rebuild or as cores.
