Well, what have we here? For 900 bucks you get a Porsche 928 that was converted and titled as an electric car, so no smog required apparently. The electrics are all gone but you could drop anything in there and as long as nobody narcs on you, get it registered in the great, clean state of California. The seller acquired it after the previous owner removed the conversion so he was planning on an LS or a Tesla conversion. The rest of the drivetrain is there so an LS seems like the easy button.

Could this be built as a Challenge car? Already has Lexan windows and Wilwood brakes.

I'm fairly close so if someone wants me to take a looksee, post up.

The previous owner / builder is a friend of mine.
He was obsessed with making it as efficient as possible, so he removed as much weight as he could. Look at the brake rotors! I looked under the car after my first ride, and decided I wouldn't take a second ride. My friend is really smart, but seeing less material in what I thought we're important areas made me nervous. I wouldn't use this as the basis for a track car.

The rotors look like dirt late model stuff from years back. I wouldn't worry about stopping power because of them.

I remember that build and your friend. He posted on an EV site and I followed it. Then sold it, for what I thought was a low cost. Would be great to redo with modern ev components.

The brake rotors didn't bother me, it was the swiss-cheesed unibody and bumpers.
