I wonder when it was salvaged. If it was recently salvaged, a small fender bender could have totaled it. In that case, picking this up for $3k would be schweet.

I really miss my M5. If I were to get another V8 E39, it would probably be the pre-VANOS 540i like this one. Just make sure there isn't any timing chain noise.

Based on the six-cylinder E39 I just picked up, and extrapolating by adding another 90 hp, then yes. It's every bit as fun as it looks.

Ask if the timing chain has ever been serviced. I hear those are PRICEY!!!

I asked for service record. If he does not have the records, hopefully its in the list.
