Oh E36 M3!!! Do you have room to store one for a short time? I've been looking for a cheap one for years!
If it will fit in a Mopar minivan I have everything needed to pick one up. If not, I can borrow a trailer typical of hauling a riding mower from a great friend and also pick it up. I do have indoor storage available.

One could argue that it is a production passenger car. It's just not meant for point to point transportation.
Now its just a recipe of:
Yes, just... Oh, its a big task but not insurmountable. However in the video the builder of the yellow cart said he had 50 hours into the project. Of the 3, this one had a steering wheel and column. The lenses are all present and good. The brightwork is generally good. Some dents, etc but these were, after all, bumped often!
These originally would have been a "bass boat" like metal flake. I think the quick answer, for a non-concourse restoration is some similar metalflake vinyl wrap. The panels are generally flat without complex curves. Trim the vinyl wrap to the brightwork and it should be reasonably easy and neat.
The floor is rusted through but originally it was just sheet metal anyway. The pedals are present. Again not complex. Even if it had a full floor that would likely have to be altered in the process of re-powering the unit. Some slight woodwork or metal work reconstructing the seat/bench. Add to that some upholstery work.
I'd paint the undercarriage and bumper perimeter black. I'd paint the floor and interior light/medium gray (because white is too bright and black is too dark.) Probably some gray vinyl seating (because black is too hot.)
Asking $575 and you're probably up and running.
These are cool. Guy selling them thought they are cool but didn't do anything.
i think they are cool but it might end up sitting for a few years until I sell to the next guy thinking they're cool.
