My mechanic calls me whenever someone has an oddball they want to get rid of. Going to look at an '04 RX-8 today, thinks it's a bad motor, auto transmission. I'll go check it out, anyone looking for something like this? What kind of price is reasonable? I'll get some pics while I'm at it. I don't know mileage yet, but are there anythings that I should look at especially for the RX-8?
Bad motor auto transmission cars should be sub $1000. Maybe even sub $500. I have a standing cl search for RX-8 under $1000 and regularly get emails for very cheap blown motor cars (both auto and manual).
but, I think the auto is the better starting point for a big motor swap (mostly a more normal diff ratio)!

I was thinking in the $500 or so range, it looks decent from a drive by, so if it's really nice, it may bump a little higher for an unmolested body, but definitely sub-$1k IMO. I just thought someone might be interested in one for a swap.
