It's an aircooled VW, so maybe cylinder head temp? Hopefully we have fuel level in there somewhere :)

Overhead counsel?  How does your attorney hang in the overhead (lack of) space in that car?

Exactly. Remote oil filter in an odd location and the ignition coil. Plus whatever that intake is taking up the normal coil location.
