We we used to call it point and pray steering. You’d point the wheel in the general direction and pray the rest of the Jeep followed.

There's some decent old Jeeps out there for cheap still.
As for the Wrangler, if you are serious, hit me up with a text. Both my wife and daughter want me to fix it for a daily again for them this summer, however.
