I was gonna say drop in an electric motor (either transverse from a leaf or such or standard bolted to a transfer case) and have a sick toy. With the torque plus the gear reduction you could drive straight up a cliff.
I'd buy it if I had anywhere to keep it. Already have a half finished car sitting behind the shop. Stock sammi running gear if I could find it cheap, or an iron duke, or a Lima 2.3. Or a million other cool options. It's a blank slate in a good way.
This literally begs for either a VW TDI swap or a Cummins 2BT. What a great start.

Both options were considered when he started building. Type 1 VW, too. Most recently it had a 350. He's been tinkering with it and building it for 15 years or so. Now he has a stock samurai and a beater cj5 and a dodge m37(?) and this one is on the chopping block.
A little bump. eBay auction is at 3550 with a little over two hours to go. If anyone is interested, now is the time.

two years ago, dad sold a Ford GPW on eBay. It went to the UK. Lots of WW2 happened there and I can totally get the desire for collectors to want a service vehicle.
now he sells a repro 46 cj on a Suzuki chassis with no drivetrain on eBay, and it goes to the UK. Maybe someone wants to clone a service vehicle? Maybe it's their way to get a cool project, by importing something old enough to be exempt from some law or other? Idk. Something about old Jeeps and England I guess.

Well after some back and forth with the "buyer" and some phone calls with eBay, it has been determined that the Jeep is not actually sold. Something about refusing to actually speak with anyone, and insistence that we contact his representative, and refusal to pay through preferred means. Too many red flags.
The cj will be listed again soon and I'll post a link. Too many Nigerian princes trying to get rich on the internet.
Damn. I wish I had an open spot in the garage, because that thing is TOO COOL. But I'm about 3 projects over at the moment.
This is a problem that eBay could easily solve by collecting a deposit of say, $20, in order to bid on a car. If you are the winning bidder but chose not to take the car - this can easily happen if the car is not as described but mostly it is bogus bidders, you forfeit that deposit. The seller is out the time, but not the auction fees. ebay gets the $20 from the bidder to pay for the auction.
That would cut down on this garbage a lot.
I also wish I had space for this. I've already built it in my head about thrice.

I fact, if one zooms in on the top picture in this thread, the Funderbird is visible in the back behind the tree under a disintegrated tarp.
I was interested, but the VIN bothers me. It was on the frame, the engine and the body originally. None of those exist anymore, so I could not title it here, except as a new construct.

It has a clear Utah title as a '46 CJ2A but I'm not sure how that translates in other states.
