Last year I posed to the hive my quest for a rally/winter car so I could park the Z4 safely away from Michigan's salt. AWESOME forum member JShaawbaru offered up his 2005 Saab 9-2x Linear as the perfect solution. It rallied great and it wintered great. But then it sat and did not spring/summer so great.
Local salvage yard has offered me $350 for it. Free if anyone wants it this week, after that it's going to the scrapper. Cannot part out, you want anything you take the whole thing.
The good: glass, front control arms, half shafts, stereo, dash cam front and rear, inside doesn't look too bad. Heated seats work
The bad: alternator, battery probably by now, gas line is leaking inside somewhere, rear brake lines, RF hub eventually needs to be replaced, rear washer hose leaks somewhere inside, 261k miles, auto, external head gasket leak
located in Lansing, MI area
The tires, man, that's what I'm saddest about. They are so nice and new! Depending on what I replace it with I may keep the new ones and give you the old ones.
Doubt there's any interest so I won't take the time to dig up pix just now :/
LOL
I can only assume you have a gun range on property :)
In reply to P3PPY :
I cant say it out loud. They will arrest me
Man I was THIS close to getting to shoot my car with an AK for my bachelor party. The trans had just pooped its pants but the field we were going to do it in got too waterlogged the night before :(
We had pumpkins and an old desktop so I still learned that day that AKs are way more fun than ARs
Whoa hold on you're giving away a 9-2x?
Pics please.
My Coworkers son is into fixing junk Subarus, he may want it. I think he lives between GR and Lansing.
last pic is with the oversized forester tires on it. And I did pull the prop shaft before towing it home like that
I should probably revise "Free-ish" to "$200 unless I use the tires on something else" since that's what I would want to get out of the rubber and that way I don't have to hassle with it. The Forester tires are decent enough, worn on the edges, but will come with car
...guys, this unlikely interest in the car is making me second guess myself! But then I remember what I can and cannot do these days. C'est la vie

Morning; sent a pm. Not too far away.
Guess I didn’t call dibs fast enough, oh well.
The unobtanium Saab parts are almost worth parting it.
In reply to turbox :
It didn't come thru, I'll try messaging you instead
Finally spoke with my coworker, he would take it for his son to fix.
Looks like I'm next in line if artur1808 decides it's a bad idea.
Thanks
Not to derail the thread but I am left wondering, how does this work? Awd car on a two wheel dolly? Is leaving it in neutral enough to make this not catastrophic?
In reply to John Welsh :
He said he removed the propshaft, which I assume is the fancy word for driveshaft.
Yeah, I normally call it a driveshaft but I had the apparently false impression that when it's AWD you call the back one something else.
I've already apologized to akylekoz and his friend but it turns out that my BIL wanted the car after all -- he had dibs but hadn't made much noise at first when I talked about ditching it. Like akylekoz's coworker, he's going to work on it with his sons and rally it. Sometimes he likes to co-drive so maybe I'll get another shot at wrecking it someday.
