Some people randomly seem to be having trouble with the link but it works for me. Try this one:

What is the AWD system like in those? Is it a FWD w/ rear assist or does it like going sideways?
I only recently learned these were a thing. Logically they should be more expensive w/ the rising popularity of 80s/90s cars.
Not too worried about the rust in the front cross member, that looks relatively easily reparable. But I'm concerned about the lack of pics of the underside. They like to get crusty. Miss mine, and that looks a good price if the trans/transfer cars are in good condition. The trans is the weak link. Virtually no spares and doesn't like much more power than stock. There used to be solutions out there, but I don't think so any more. Damn, just realized I sold mine close to 20 years go now!
Got a direct link from the seller:

Also edited my previous comment to match.
As I said above, I'm pretty local if someone wants eyes on it.

The solution these days is to swap in an early manual RAV4 drivetrain behind the BP via an adapter plate and to make a custom rear subframe and prop shaft made.
PAR makes dog boxes from them, but then you still have the fragile center differential to contend with.

I had one that was stock other than a set of Bilstein struts. They've got a remarkably solid feel, like a long travel rally car. They drive like one, too. Pitch it into a corner, the back end takes a half step out and it just sits there waiting for you to adjust the line. Super fun. I miss it.
They were rally cars, so they got used up hard. Plus they rusted and you could increase the boost easily and blow stuff up. So there aren't many left.
They're proper homologation specials.
I had two of them. Last one I bought in 2004 from a guy in San Jose and drove it thru the night back to Denver with a friend. Sold it because not sure why and of course wish I hadn't. It was a Cali no rust car with all the right vintage mods.

That isn't an either/or thing, you can have very rotation-friendly cars that don't have center diffs.
