I don't know anything about it but it fits the bill for interim and drivetrain donor.
That one is pretty good (but it's not a 350 if it's a 6.0L!).
It's in the right place too
Any opinions on a 2006 F-150 with a 5.4L?
I found a pretty clean one at a good price. It's not a motor I'm familiar with. Mostly asking about towing capability and reliability.
In reply to SV reX :
They have timing issues from what I've heard. The car wizard says run from the 3v 5.4.
I have a 4.3 V6 powered Chevy work truck in my fleet like the truck you posted on the previous page. It's an uninspiring vehicle but it gets the job done and I don't spend a lot of money repairing it. After you drive it 6-8 months you can probably sell it for what you paid for it.
Edit, never mind, that's a 4.8. It will probably still run forever and you can probably still sell it for what you paid for it.
You may be able to sell it to me. I've got an old Ranger I need to dump in the next couple of years.
I'd get the best depreciated truck you can for the money you can afford to park for a while. Assume you can sell it for close to what you paid because there is always demand for a good work truck, so you're not spending the money. You're just storing it in truck form. Get a good truck that won't leak maintenance costs, no nickel and dime beaters. You want Toyman's uninspiring Chevy, not something interesting.

This looks exact to what you initial posting requirements were. The ad says it's been listed for 4 weeks now. Not a fast seller! That might help to take $1k off the price?
You know your needs best of course but I think what John and I were trying to say is that $22k spent on a fastenal truck might yield $22k or more in six months when you're done with it. You'd be out insurance and taxes but the truck itself is likely a zero sum cost. If you don't have the $22k to park in a truck then that's not helpful of course!

Well, tried to message him. It's not going through. (sigh)
Clicking on "sellers details" link down near his face, at the bottom of the listing returns that he has about 14 other thinks listed on FB right now. Maybe try reaching him on one of those listings, like: Bobcat for rent or F250 parts list just a week ago.
Guy down the road is selling his 2008 Chevy 3/4t long bed. Rusty rear wheelwells, 215k (but new engine at 176k). $8500. I can get contact info if you want. It is in KS, though.

I'm going to take a look at this van tonight. He's also got a pickup I'm gonna look at (for a lot less)
Neither truck has working AC. The van needs minor repairs, but the pickup never had it. Strange... it's a rust free southern truck that never had AC.
The van is a 1 ton, but has no hitch right now. The pickup is a 2500, but has the 5.4L
In reply to SV reX :
Did you see the truck in my post above? I feel like you could buy that and sell it for the same price, with you only coming out of pocket for gas and insurance.
I just realized 2003 should have been the changeover year when Express vans got an LS. That van is a 2002.
The ad says it's a 350 LS. No such thing. Either it's a 350, or an LS.
We shall see...

No hitch. No AC. Old school L31. Bad paint job.
I passed. Still looking.

They're not bad. The earlier ones had spark plugs that ripped out of the heads and the later ones had spark plugs that broke off in the hole. Both are remarkably simple fixes that take very minimal time. Certainly less time than replacing a leaky intake gasket on a Vortec, which doesn't seem to phaze anyone.
They also like to have funky coils. One will go causing a misfire. If you replace just that one, there is a very high probability that the next weakest one will give a misfire. The two options are to go to a shop with the Ford test equipment and they can identify the 2, 3, or 5 coils that are bad.... but until you pay for that diag, it's usually cheaper to just buy all 8 coils and be done with it.
I've owned two 5.4L trucks - an early and a late. I wouldn't hesitate to have one again. One of them had over 300k on it and refused to leak, smoke, or give up.
More than enough oomph to tow, and I trust the 4R75W as long as you're nice to it.

It's possible he was advertising the option package? There were WT, LT, and LS option packages

But it's made by that horrible ferd company. Everyone knows chebbys are easier to work on.... stop confusing folks with facts!
In chebbies defense, they do at least have WAY better parts interchangeability.
ferd enkingeers change stuff between years and even same engine in different models. Drives a ford fan nuts!
