Wonder what it would take to extend the wheelbase? Just about any car is going to be very heavy on the rear of that. Otherwise this seems like a thing more people should do. Cheap RV's with Bad House parts are everywhere. The Drivey part is rarely in unsalvageable shape. Tires aren't actually that expensive for the 16.5" wheels.
I see potential here. If the wheelbase was about three feet longer and it had a proper ramp bed on it. Like this. Although the white one is more likely.
That's pretty cool for the $. Somebody did a lot of the hard stuff on that. It would have been good if they made the van part just a little longer so it had room for a jack knife bed in the back like one of the van hauler conversions. It would also make the wheelbase less of an issue. I give it 2 1/2 stars for creativity and effort plus 1 bonus star for not being delusional on the price.
I tried doing this with a 1969 3/4 ton Econoline, I found out too late the frame was just bent sheet metal or something but wouldn't take a load. I cut out everything from the rear of the side barn doors to the seam just ahead of the tail.

I didn't say it was a steal! I feel like you see a lot of things like that and people start counting their hours and get really proud of what they built. At $4500 this may be a little high but these days if something runs and drives the bottom line entry price seems pretty inflated. That's why I would classify this as "not delusional".

In his defense, I'm a bit of a hermit, and social outcast, so I tend to forget how over inflated prices are these days.
I've become one of those old farts that gives the kid a shinny quarter for cleaning the gutters!
I hope I didn't come across as being personal... no offense intended.

None taken. We are cool. I could tell you were just joking, I was too. I am having trouble adjusting to pricing myself!
pricing is pricing is quite shocking these days.
After years of contract work, and not putting enough aside for retirement, l finally got a bit in there... then my life changed, and my income potential dropped to just below what I have to spend every month! Have pull about half that back out these last 4 years, to meet the difference. fourtuinatly, the car, truck, and wife's suv are all low maint. costs... and hopefully will stay that way for the foreseeable future.
