That's cool but I believe The Rools sez: "Must be based on a mass-produced street legal car." Or something like that. Otherwise one of us will show up with a six year old 125 shifter kart and blow everyone away in the Auto-X. I wonder how it would do in the drags though...

Granted, I've never driven a shifter kart, but I imagine the wouldn't be too terrible at drag races, would probably top out at the 1/8th. Maybe slap some bigger tires on it to increase the top speed?
If karts were allowed, you would almost have an entire sub-class of wicked motor swapped karts overnight.

I like this sub class idea! I don't know if GRM could carry enough insurance to cover a field of death karts though. Someone will LS power one for sure.
I was thinking more along the lines of attach a real Vega VIN tag, call it a chopped, sectioned, narrowed Vega on custom tube chassis with extensive weight reduction and an engine swap.
It all depends on how you play the game...
The car below is an actual Mini Start with a small FWD car and drop the shell over the cut-down chassis. Box flares rule around here, so how could it go wrong?
I was at a Pro Solo back in something like 97 when shifter karts were new to SCCA solo. The event was in one of the large overflow parking lot's at some attraction around the Nashville area. I want to say the Grand Old Opry or Graceland, but I don't think either of those are large enough come to think of it. Anyway, in the first Saturday morning runs someone spun so far off the course ina kart they left the official site and ended up on the access road for the public coming into the open car parks. That got the event shut down until they could redesign (both) courses and start over in the after noon having scrubbed all the prior run times. That makes me think GRM are unlikely to sanction Karts at the challenge. I"d love to be wrong though, although never as more than an exhibition class.
