It would have to stay visually unchanged though, hubcaps, bench seats and all.

The seller did a real crap-tastic job with the pictures.  Too zoom on wrong things.  He almost managed to hide most all the fender damage to the right front fender.

I want this.  This is very close in color to my first car which was a '74 Valiant, and I believe under the skin basically the same thing as a Volare?  What an awful, awful machine.

Or you drop a Hellcat in it, keep the hubcaps, but widen the steel wheels in the rear......

In reply to ProDarwin :

I think the dart/valiant and Aspen/volare are fairly different cars. I've always heard the earlier cars were fairly reliable and simple, while the later ones were nightmares. Lean burn, etc.

You are right.  Its hard to find details.  The Volare was the replacement for the Valiant.  While the drivetrain was sort of the same (engine/trans), it had some minor changes.  The big difference seems to be the front suspension.

I can't remember the exact person, but I remember an 80's comedian with the line "after the nuclear war, all that's gonne be left is cockroaches driving Dodge Darts.."

I guess the current reliability comparison would be late 90's Camry sedans?

I never really thought they were that reliable.

That said the current cockroach car is a Prius.

My MIL once drive one of the later model Valiants.  It never broke, but was a terrible driving experience and dreadfully slow.   Definitely cockroach material.

My mom's parents had a BRG Volare, same interior as the one above.  I rode in it many times and they had it for a LONG time.
