Here is a copy of an ad posted by the owner of the car, who is a friend of mine. I have raced, and won with this car. It has a ton of potential, and is fun to drive. It is currently at my house, and i can deliver it depending on some factors we can discuss if you are serious.
Circumstances have forced me to put the Midwest-famous TDISore "Racing" Mooseschlong Jetta up for sale. This car won IOE at Autobahn in 2022 and Class C at the High Plains Full 24 in 2023.
Here are the details:
- 2003 Jetta TDI, 420k-ish miles (20k race miles over 11 races)
- Brand new turbo installed for race #2 (10 races on new turbo)
- Two sets of 17" wheels with Hankook Ventus RS4 tires that should be good for another race each.
- 10 (!) loose Falken Azenis that are good for a practice day each.
- two spare knuckles w/bearings
- one spare driver side axle and passenger side axle
- spare rebuildable longblock (DO NOT use before rebuilding, its status is unknown)
- extra brake pads (Hawk HP Plus) that still have some life left in them
- several yellow fuel jugs
- some other things I am probably forgetting, there is a lot stuffed in the car
The bad:
- needs a head gasket. Started exhibiting symptoms at High Plains in 2023 and confirmed the issue at Road America the same year. Car can be driven for short stints and definitely on to and off of a trailer.
- Needs a new fire bottle - No one is refilling AFFF bottles that I have been able to find so a new bottle that uses some other approved flame retardant is recommended.
- I believe the safety belts expire in 2025 at some point, so they should be replaced.
I am asking $3500 for the package ($500 for the car and $3000 for the cage/seat/spares.) Car and spares are located in Northern Illinois in two separate locations.
