NMNA....but looks like a bargain if you wanted to build a dedicated autocross or track day car.

Interesting...not sure about that windshield frame though.

I'd put a roof on it and make it into a Trans-Am clone.

The seller's profile picture is an early 80s Ford truck layed over in a corner and his cover photo is a very altered Pinto in the same state. Why is this guy not on this forum already?

In reply to slowbird :

If you look at the body details in your picture and the ad, they're pretty much identical. I suspect it's a former Trans-AM/GT1 car with the roof removed and the roll bar raised.  I messaged the guy to see what it is.

I wonder if that's Dave Whitworth from SPS' old car

I wonder how much of the body i could graft onto my sn95.  I should stop wondering.

Not for me with a half cage, the loss of rigidity, and some safety concerns.

There's structure right up to the window sills. I don't think the missing part of the cage takes away all that much rigidity. It wouldn't be difficult to put it back in any case.

It certainly looks like it is.

Seller says it was an E-mod autocross car. He says it was built to autocross, but he's not sure where the plans were copied from. It looks overbuilt to me. He says it's too wide to autocross well. Still looks like a cheap start to some fun though.

Who is Dave Whitworth?

In reply to DeadSkunk (Warren) :

Interesting. Would make a cool track car. I'd definitely want to add roll cage frontward bits.

It's possible they copied or got some leftover body molds from the Trans-Am cars somehow. Then built their own custom chassis under it. In fact, that would make the lack of roof make sense, because Trans-Am cars had to use stock roofs per the rules (the only part of the car that was stock), so the custom bodywork molds wouldn't have had a roof component, I presume.

I found the same pictures someone posted on Dave Whitworth's FB page, he says it is his old car.

Just found his FB page. When you see the pictures of the completed car some of the details in the sale ad make more sense. Also, some photos of the roll bar also look like there was a cage and it was removed forward of the main hoop. I'm back to suspecting it's a modified road race chassis.

I came home today after convincing myself that I needed to rescue this project. I logged on to my GRM account, went to the forum section, scrolled down to the cars for sale and found this thread. I clicked on the link and THANKFULLY it is gone! A higher power was looking out for me! Something that would take up room in the shop never to get built.
