I don't like pick ups and I like that. MAn that looks perfect for short trips to Home Depot and the local parade.

Per Wikipedia these trucks used a *lot* of Lark sheetmetal.

The bed doesn't look like it belongs to this truck, but I'm 99 percent sure it really does. Oh yeah it's super cool.

Every picture I find of these things are like that. It's like Studebaker decided the bed needed to be wider than the cab and maybe not that close to the cab either.
Studebaker offered two beds for Champs. The narrow one was the old 2R unit that entered production in 1949. Not having the resources to tool up a new bed, they bought the wide beds from one of the big three in Detroit (Dodge or Ford, I can't remember) and only made the tail gate themselves. They are wider than the cab because all Studes are narrow enough to stamp an entire floor panel from a 48" wide sheet! Bean counter rule from 1947 bites again.

they used Dodge beds.
