without engine compartment pix, how can one identify this as an M6?

The rear seat certainly looks M6. I looked at one of these in the mid 90's for $15,500. Same color combo too! Had to pass then. These are real nice cruisers.
Looks like a real M6 to me. I would do a compression test on the engine if possible. The S38 is one expensive engine to maintain.
I was very close to buying an e28 M5 (same engine) a couple of years ago, I wish I did.
Is it normal for the door jamb at the latch to not be body color?
Otherwise, seems like a decent car.

Mine has a aluminum dress plate there, so yes.
As far as being a M6. It looks just like my regular 635 other than being a 5 speed, having rear air and having a tan interior. I'd want pictures from under the hood before I traveled any distance for it.
I love mine. It's the best cruising machine I've ever owned.

engine rebuilds will cost in excess of $10,000.... only thing i can come up with.
i am in talks with seller now... probably won't happen for me, but i've got to investigate it anyway.

Yeah... that's more than enough, thanks.
I just rebuilt the bottom end in the MX6 for under $500 including machine costs. I'm good.

I forwarded it to a friend, don't want you guys to trip over each other, so let me know if you pass on it and he can start his own talks.
