Very cool. They are importing a lot of Kei cars these days, I want a 6-passenger van with 4WD and a supercharger or turbo.

Local importer: Cleveland Moto, Phil Waters. Cool cat. His wife and mine used to teach together years ago.
At any time, there's some cool stuff out front.
I did not need to learn the Cleveland Moto has expanded into JDM imports.

My biggest fear would be road tripping in it and having something break.. how do you get parts for a Mazda Bongo Friendee powered by a Ford 2.5 turbo diesel we didn't get in the states??

That thing is adorable. It also looks like it would do a full somersault if you hit the brakes too hard and then keep bumbling down the road.

As I've found that gas golf carts are ridiculously priced these days, I've stumbled on the Kei trucks - which is nearly what I need for golf cart use (yard stuff, race track use, etc). You can get a 4wd mini truck for what a used golf cart would cost. Some even have A/C and dump beds.
The importer / retailers seem to get $6-8k for these but it seems like you could just go to carsfromjapan.com and get them for half the price (or less). The 25 year rule applies but if they are less than $2500 then the paperwork is minimal. Would just have to pick it up at a port.
