Apparently needs less than $100 worth of injectors. I'll be watching this thing for price reductions.

I would swap the injectors in the driveway to confirm the issue before purchase, no way am I buying a car for anywhere near that price otherwise.

That's cheap for a MR2 Spider around here, even one with questionable running abilities. I'd look at paperwork for sure, but somehow I doubt the injectors are all that is wrong. If it were that simple, why hasn't he fixed it?
In reply to java230:
How so? Looks like they're up top, just pull the cover, pull the fuel rail, and make with the swappy. If you're having trouble working on your MR2, wobble/u-joint extensions for your ratchet will help immensely.
In reply to ¯_(ツ)_/¯:
I forget how close to me you really are to me. Have you ever wanted to build a challenge car?
In reply to ¯_(ツ)_/¯:
I guess it's been a while, but I looked at swapping injectors, and they sure looked like they were really tight to the firewall to me, I said berkeley it... I'm lazy I guess
In reply to Andy Neuman:
You mean other than in a "overnight in a parking lot the day before the event" capacity? Hell yes, it's just that pesky lack of time- I seem to always have another race car or motorcycle to work on instead. Do you need me to saw the roof off that Infiniti for you?
In reply to java230:
Yeah man, nothing says lazy like building your own RV from scratch
I could be wrong, but having owned several earlier MR2s makes me look at that and go "nothing three 1" wobble extensions can't solve!"
In reply to ¯_(ツ)_/¯:
I'm sure its not sooo bad, but it wasn't worth the 5hp to swap them. I didn't look that close I guess.
I did note that there's no pics of the said swapped motor.
I sort of want that but there would be hell to pay if I dragged home another project. I actually really enjoy the 2zz in the Vibe. It must be a crazy amount of fun in an MR2.
I'm serious about the injectors though.
In reply to ¯_(ツ)_/¯:
Next years project I plan to get in over my head. This year I just haven't had time with getting married two weeks before the event. My fiancé doesn't work on the cars with me.
I saw that listing last week and went "hmmm", interested in hearing just how uh..."interesting" it is if you do go and take a look.
java230 wrote: In reply to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯: Ah I guess there is a bit of difference between the 1 and 2zz
Yes...one.
I always wondered why they didn't build this from the factory. Could have taken the Spyder from "gee, this is fun" to "WHEEEE" with minimal cost difference to build between this and the factory 2zz setup.
And if that is a 2zz and it really does just need injectors, this seems like a pretty great deal.
