Believe me, it would be BETTER than a TR6.  I had a TR6 through college (After a TR4A in high school) and finally got my 250 in 1980.

I'd buy the E36 M3 out of that.

What he said. Buy now. Sort out "for who" later.  I'm not even a big TR4/6 fan and I'd be tempted to buy that.

if i had your garage, i'd probably already have a placeholder build thread for it.  damn, i've wanted a TR6 since i was a kid. about when they were new LOL.

EDIT: my math sucks today.  the oldest TR6 is younger than me.

They Look Much better !

In reply to AngryCorvair (Forum Supporter) :

TR4 style, TR6 engine. They're the same in the cabin area, like a bugeye vs "square" sprite.

250:

6:

the 250 is more rare, but the 6 is better looking, in my opinion.

I wanted a TR250 when I bought my Miata back in '93.  I still have a Miata I don't drive. No real need for a TR250 I dont drive too.

The TR4 has a nice body including the rear tail fins and the hood lifted for the headlights.  The TR6 got the big engine but all the body lines went square.  The TR250 which came between TR4 & TR6 is a pleasing combination of the body lines and bigger motor.

If someone else buys it before I do, I have a spare hood that's in decent condition for this.

I've sent the seller an email.  Let's see if I get a response.

If you do make contact, let him know you've got boots on the ground in Canton. Some people are sketchy about out of town buyers.

I used to hate the 250 because most of them came with those hideous Rostyle hubcaps.  Then I saw one with wire wheels.  Totally transformed the car and now love them.

Agreed.  Wheels make a big difference for the appearance of these cars.  At a minimum the chrome trim rings on the wheels need to go.  Visually it's just confusing with the TR6 with the current combination.

Not a fan of the silver color, but that's fairly easily changed.

TR 250 was one year only, essentially a six cylinder TR4, and they look fantastic.

It's also important to note that the rear fenders unbolt on these things, which should make repairs much easier.

Does the 250 have the weak IRS?

Yes, I knew that one was gone before I could even think about it. That is a great deal, I have seen TR250 parts cars fully rusted out for 5K

TR4, 4A, and 250 body designed by Giovanni Michelotti. TR6 body design updated by Karmann of Germany, with constraints (like doors had to remain the same). I wanted a TR250 growing up, and looked at a few. Bought a TR4A with a live rear axle, and was very happy with it (for 40+ years). Owned a bunch of TRs, but this TR was my first.
